We were charged US$411 (albeit during Perehera) for a dreadful "suite" - dirty floors, no hot water on demand, out-of-date showers and baths (2* standard), worn-out towels, cheapTCL un-tuned television, fluffy dowdy loo surround etc etc. The food (one lunch) was awful, the oversell on massage too much and the staff unmanaged and untrained - the stood over out table watching every mouthful.
By reference we had come from Galle Fort Hotel (great!), Tea Trails (first class - same price) and Manor House was a massive let down. We checked out early and paid US$50 for a room in the charming Galle Face Hotel in centre of Colombo which was altogether more wholesome...how on earth can Manor House justify these prices. I would not stay again but if I did at max would be willing to pay US$100.
We then left SriLanka for Bangkok where we stayed in Mandarin Oriental - which many rate as best hotel in world and we love- for US$350. Worth every penny.
In our opinion Manor House is a rip off masquerading as a boutique hotel. Stay clear.
