“Best place to stay in Paharganj /Central Delhi”

Just stayed 4 nights with a few friends in Hotel Hari Piorko last week during our north india trip. It was recommended to me by a friend who stayed here during the Auto Expo.

The hotel is located bang at 6, tooti chowk about 200 meters from the New Delhi Railway station making it very convenient for tourists..

Some points on my stay :

*) Hotel reception and Staff : Excellent. The desk was always helpful for guests and are fast to our requests. The manager Daniel was a huge help. We had messed up our booking and needed some accommodation urgently. There was clarity in the options we were being provided and no malice (which is very rare in delhi)

*) Rooms : We stayed firstly in an executive room which was fantastic. It had a really good bed and the room layout was very nice. Bathrooms were good compared to indian budget hotels but defn can be better. We then landed late at night (1 AM) from agra with no accommodation booking and were provided a "Family Room" which was sufficient for the night. This room can be defn made better. Lastly we stayed in the normal rooms facing the road. They had a very good bed, were clean and had average bathrooms.

*) Misc : We did not try out the in-house restaurant. The pricing was good on our budget given the quality..

Some points they can improve on include : better bathrooms in executive rooms, also pls mark your hotel on google maps :-)

all in all, a very good place to stay in central delhi's tourist district. I highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Go for the executive room as its only a couple of hundred extra and are away from the road side

“Would stay here again”

Booked this hotel based on its location - in the Main Bazaar, and also walking distance to New Delhi train station. Arranged an airport pickup via email which was great, straight to the hotel (more expensive than a regular taxi but worth it to avoid any hassle at 3am!). Checked in and went straight to sleep. Room was functional, comfy bed, so long as you can sleep through horns and dogs barking all day and all night. Realised in the morning that although we had paid for a deluxe room, it was just a standard room, but decided not to bother bringing it up, as it wasn't a huge price difference, and we had already slept there and didn't want to move rooms. When we checked out we still had to pay for the airport transfer, and they tried to overcharge us which I objected to, but it wasn't until I threatened to show them the email they sent me with the quoted price (which I didn't actually have a copy of), that they relented and we paid the original quoted price. They tried to pretend it was more expensive because of the terminal we arrived at, but that was rubbish and I had given them all the details in the email and they had then quoted the price! Irritating but not really a big deal. There is a rooftop restuarant, but we used the first floor one since it wasn't very warm, there is a balcony if you want to watch life (and cows) go by in the street below. Was great to be able to go somewhere peaceful to relax after the madness of Delhi (and the hotel is right in the middle of it!), and you could order anything you wanted at any time of day! (we had breakfast at 3pm after sleeping off the jet lag).
Overall, it did the trick, and we would stay here again if we go back to Delhi. Just be aware of the potential for being ripped off, stick to your guns and you will be fine!

Room Tip: Maybe a room not looking out onto the street would be quieter!

“Lots of potential, but a lack of cleanliness and maintenance shown.”

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Hari Piorko for two nights. We choose the hotel based on previous trip advisor reviews and the photos on their website. The positives: Excellent communication back and forth via email after I made my booking. They also assisted with airport transport which was appreciated as we arrived very early morning. It is in a good location in the main bazar, fairly close to train station, and they have a variety of rooms to choose from to fit a variety of budgets. It has a nice restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating so you can look down at the lively street action. It also has the best ginger-lemon-honey tea of any place I've tried in india. Now for the negatives, which this hotel could remedy if they showed more care and attentiveness - maybe they will in the future. Overall, I must say this hotel was disappointing to us. We decided to stay in one of their least expensive room- 1500 rupees/ night, the deluxe A/C room (one without a fish-tank). The room itself was good size with a pretty comfortable kingsize bed. The room had two chairs and a little table. It was fine. It was pretty cold when we were there. We asked for a heater but were told they didn't have any, so we appreciated the extra warm blanket they provided. What wasn't great is the lack of cleanliness and maintenance. The toilet seat, where it attaches, had been broken for some time. Previous guests no doubt had problems with it. It would have been obvious to the staff who cleaned and maintained the room. Instead of replacing it or repairing it, it was simply left to hang by a wimpy piece of unbroken plastic so it would shift readily or nearly fall off when used. The toilet also did not look clean. The sheets were stained, and the quilt had someone else's hair on it. We used our own bedding so we felt more comfortable. When we were leaving I did mention the broken toilet seat to the friendly and attentive manager. He said they would have gladly dealt with it if I would have reported it. To me, they should have known. (It is like serving a meal to someone in a restaurant, you should know what you are serving.) There is also no high speed internet in the rooms, only in the lobby. They have numerous staff and most of them were quite kind. To give Hotel Hari Piorko their due, we went out and toured several budget accommodations nearby and saw the same level (or lack of) cleanliness as Hari Piorko. Based on this, I am not sure where I'd stay if I return again. There seems to be a main bazar-level of cleanliness. I might give Hari Piorko another try, but I would tour the room before accepting and still bring my own sheet set.

Room Tip: I'd tour the room before deciding if you're going to accept it. The deluxe rooms were good s...

Hari Piorko in the heart of Delhi, allows you to get a feel of "real" India by being in the middle of main bazar, close to the popular connaught place. At the same time this hotel offers you the comfort and cleanliness to be able to rest and feel pampered after an intense day out. The hotel is clean, the rooms are cozy and the staff very friendly. Having lived in India for several years and studied hotel management in Switzerland, I can vouch for this place as the best option you can find in main bazar and probably the centre of delhi in this category. Precision to details on cleanliness and the real friendliness of the staff certainly makes this place stand apart.

Room Tip: Rooms inside (not facing the road) are quiter

“Best Budget Option in Main Bazzar”

Stayed there twice at the beggining and the end of my Indian trip for 3 nights. Clean and comfy, within 5-8 minute walk to New Delhi Raiway station and Delhi Metro, lots of eating options, helpful staff. Could not ask for more in crazy Delhi. I'll definitely stay there again for my next trip to Delhi.

Room Tip: Ask for a Delux room 110 Avoid Room 309 which is adjacent to a restaurant hence noisy at night
