The Old fort has a 1.9 km perimeter along the water and the zoo. Very convenient to start your day of sightseeing: opens at 9am, no crowd, 100 INR for foreigners. Informative signs bilingual.

Some areas at the back where staff "established their living quarters" may be less desirable with children.

Some construction ongoing in Feb 2015.

Purana Qila (the old fort) is set in vast landscaped rubbish strewn grounds and where you can see the many and varied boarded up buildings. The Qala-i-Kuhna Masjid was a grandiose mosque, Sher Sher Mandal an octagonal pavilion, Sher Mandal a library, Talaqui Darwaza the Northern gate are only some of the buildings. These are constructed out of red sandstone and it is still possible to pick out the intricate carvings within the internal "courtyards", or on the walls.
There is an information display in English at every structure with a comprehensive and informative narrative. The large number of feral dogs were some cause for concern, but they appeared to avoid human contact; however it would have been useful if the information centre was occupied and appeared not to have any pamphlets.

It is worth roaming on these gardens. The Mosque was very nice and so the library.Do not go to the lake, it is dirty, smelly and full of mosquitoes.

this is the place where you can enjoy the weather. one side is the zoo and other side lake a great place to watch and relax .Purana Qila, is the oldest fort among all forts in Delhi and, the oldest known structure of any type in Delhi. The northern gate way, called the Talaqui darwaza or the forbidden gateway, combines the typically Islamic pointed arch with Hindu Chhatris and brackets.
and the best part is the spectacular sound and light show held every evening.its a one hour full show which take you to the ancient delhi.its a memorable show all must see ..
