“Stylish and comfortable new hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2012

I arrived on a quiet Sunday with property less than 1 week open. After usual entry past gates, guards and security staff (std protocol for India it seems) I am greeted by personal staff to wait on me, show me the room and make me welcomed. Reception was personal, elegant and efficient. The place was like my own. I was greeted by name often and with smiles at all points, at restaurant, housekeeping, and more.
The area is heavy on construction of new offices, etc. so it appears like any modern city in the world. Airport was pretty close by and Nariman Pt is 40 min in peak morning hours.
The room is exquisite in decor, bed comfort, lighting, tv and bath. Bath is glass enclosed walls, frosted for shower/ toilet, but quite a statement. Architectural details in construction design were impressive. The bench full of pillows was great; toiletries by L'Occidentale are the best. I did not use the large bathtub in center of bathroom, however.
The hotel doctor was quite pleasant which was my misfortune to appreciate, after getting sick for 24 hrs. Hotel sent up Gatorade and fetched my prescription meds, which were cheap cost. I got better and enjoyed a limited menu, not the enormous buffet, though. Food quality was outstanding in cafe, restaurant and room service, as they supported my special diet requests. If you get sick, no better place than a luxury hotel with Indian hospitality.
The newspaper from US cost was R.250 but the internet was free, a big deal, or is that due to being Accor member?

“Great rooms. The hotel needs final finishing touches.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2012

the hotel is newly opened.great location for people who want to be in the suburbs for work.
Mid way between the airport and south Mumbai.
Nice and very comfy rooms , with all modern amenities. The club lounge is simply great and the staff is very friendly.
Branded soaps and shampoos in the toilets which is great.
the pool is a bit small but the health club is simply great.
oily food at the coffee shop.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors are always the better.

“Faultless”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2012

The hotel has only been open for two weeks but it is really excellent. It is in an area that doesn't really feel like Bombay: it's all new high rises and broad avenues. Much of
the area is still a building site. Even in peak time, this Sofitel is only about 30 minutes from the domestic airport (although it would take a lot longer o the international)

From arrival to departure, the staff were helpful, thoughtful, professional and fast. I had forgotten to print my itinerary before I left (you need a printed itinerary or boarding pass to get into an Indian airport). I remembered just before checking out and they let me use the computer in the back office to log in to Tripit and print it out. That is that attitude of the staff to every issue.

The gym / health club deserves a special mention. At the moment, it's only open to guests so you usually have it to yourself (they do, apparently, plan to sell memberships to people working in the yet-to-be completed offices around the hotel). They have brand new Technogym equipment -- 4 treadmills, 5 other cardio machines, a good range of dumbells and 3 of the new cable machines. There is a computer built into the wall behind the cable machines -- you pick the body part you want to train and it shows you 10 or 12 different exercises for those muscles (with a video)

I don't normally use executive lounges but I did use this one. There is an amazing range of veg and non-veg food at the cocktail hour and they even offer you bring you small hot dishes. No-one could need dinner after eating all this. The orange juice and pesto shot sounds revolting but is, in fact, delicious. The staff are very friendly and enthusiastic. I also found room service good and fast but I didn't try either of the restaurants.

The only slightly unnerving experience is that the staff have been told to say "bon jour" (or "bon soir") and "namaskar" (a typical Indian greeting) every time they see you. The mischievous bit of me did consider launching into a reply in French but the people were too nice for that kind of trick.

The rooms are high tech and very chic. Normally, I'd think it was a bit pretentious but this hotel pulls it off.

Very, very impressive. Let's hope there will be more Sofitels like this in the future

Room Tip: The junior suites at the end of hallways are great although the bed is a bit close to the door for m...
