“Typical business hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

A newly built hotel conveniently located in the city of Chennai. Staff are professional, business like than warm and friendly. Younger ones lack confidence and older ones have the experience but are cold. The Hyatt is suitable for business executives as they have decent sized rooms with a good size business center. For travellers on holidays, don't expect too much in terms of service.

Room - good size with standard amenities. No fruit basket or special welcome for staying in suites. Bring your own mosquito repellent for the room and a spray-on. The rooms are plagued with mosquitoes buzzing all night.

Dining - Spice Market serves buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with mainly Indian choices and a limited selection of international cuisine. It also has an a-la-carte menu with the usual salads, burgers etc and a selection of Indian food. Stix serves Chinese which is quite good, except for the sauces they serve.

Spa - don't get misled. The spa is not open for business yet.

Room Tip: Because of the mosquitoes, request a higher floor room.

“Absolute grandeur - can do better with service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

This is a huge property by Chennai standards. What is little odd that- you arrive in the hotel and are taken four levels above for checking into the hotel. You wonder that, if you want to leave the hotel in a hurry, you need to take two lifts.
The reception area is beautiful and the check in processes are very quick. The rooms are very big and the view from the room is really awesome. This is a very stylish and modern format as compared to traditional formats of the hotels in Chennai. The quality of linen is very clean and is outstanding. The room has all the facilities and you can just relax as soon as you enter the room. The signal quality for phone connectivity and data card for internet is terrible.
The restaurant was good and the spread of the food on the buffet was extensive. I was given to understand that the property is new and few facilities like the spa and others are yet to be operational.
There are a few things which were a little annoying. There were periodic power cuts and it used to take atleast 2-3 minutes for power to get restored. One doesnt expect this in a Hyatt Property. The staff at the restaurant always seems to be confused and if you have asked for anything it takes ages to reach your plate, so it is better that you, yourself pick it up. The food tasted little bland and as the buffet was spread over a huge area, you spend more time in picking up your food than eating it. The quality of the desserts were good.
On a second thought I felt that they property is very big and the staffing is not adequate. Also the stewards at the restaurant were right out of the college and will take a lot of time to understand what ''service delivery'' meant. Service could have been more personalized and warm.
With appropriate staffing and improving service and food quality this place has the potential to be among the top rated places in Chennai.

Room Tip: Please be aware that the phone connectivity in the rooms is bad as they do not have a proper booster...

“Pity that the lobby is on the 4th floor!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

The hotel works and is okay but the fact that you arrive to leave your bags at the entrance on the ground level and then proceed to the fourth floor to check in is odd! The bags took forever and our group check in was a nightmare- took 2 hours to get the bags in the rooms. A lack of direction was certainly the issue but in general the hotel works. Great food in the restaurant and a lovely lounge area. internet slow

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. Our hoteI does have a unique design and the space allocated requires that once our guest arrives at the main porch they are guided towards the fourth floor to experience the F&B outlets or for check-in. This distinctive arrangement also allows our hotel to provide the guests with sense of arrival that belies the noise or the hustle and bustle of Anna Salai (Mount Road) below. However we are sorry to hear about the inconvenience you faced. This is definitely not in line with our service standards. We have investigated the incident and informed the relevant departments. Every effort is being made to rectify any recurrence of this issue. I hope you will give us the chance to welcome you back.

Best regards,
Vishal Sapra

“Very Funky Looking, More Work Required on Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

This is a lovely looking hotel. Really cool and funky and everything is new, however the staff are very inexperienced.

When you drive up to the hotel you arrive on the ground floor and the check in reception is on teh next floor up, but no one guides you to the lift to make you aware of that. Check in is ok, but takes a little longer than normal as the staff are all fairly new.

Breakfast was very nice and very, very quiet so the service was very good, although the number of people thanking you on the way out was a little overkill.

Overall a nice hotel and will be great once the staff are more experienced

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking out the time to post your review. We are delighted to hear that you liked the design and style of our hotel. It is in line with our ethos of having a contemporary yet functional design space. The architecture of our hotel lends our lobby and guest floor its unique aesthetic and gives our guests a sense of arrival as they take in the atrium, the fifth floor views through the lobby lounge etc. However, as you have pointed out we understand that this unconventional building design does make it absolutely essential that our guests are directed accurately and efficiently. That is precisely the reason we have placed our concierge and bell desk services right next to the guest elevators for assistance. However, we truly regret that no one was present to assist you at the time of your arrival. We have addressed this lapse internally and will strive towards giving you a more satisfying stay experience.

I hope you will visit us soon and give us a chance to serve you better.

Best regards,
Vishal Sapra

“Luxury stay at Chennai”

Great business come leisure hotel in the heart of the city. Impeccable service and soothing ambience true to its 5 star rating. Friendly and warm staff who are cordial and very resourceful. The king room I checked in had a beautiful view and also looked like a brand new spanking one with hi-tech features. A switch on-off blind system for windows and for bathroom. Rooms are spacious with all the necessary amenities to have a hassle free stay when ones on a hassle filled business event trip. If budget is not a constraint would highly recommend this place. Cheers!
