Hard to locate on the Malaysian NUVI GPS, we spent 3 hours roaming around the backwaters of Melaka and Negri Sembilan before finally locating a board pointing to Bandar Melaka. Disconnecting the GPS, we reached Melaka at 3pm instead of noon. Hotel was almost missed, as it is totally non-descript from the arrival road unless you approach it from Munshi Abdullah. Parked on the corner of Jalan Bungah Raya Pantai in front of the chinese restaurant to offload passengers and then searched for parking in Renaissance hotel a block away. Then lugged the luggage all the way back to the hotel and up the steps as there are no steps.
The second room turned out to be full of cigarette smoke and although the whole wing seemed to be empty, we were not give a room in there but a floor above. The elderly parents refused as they were too tired.
Aside from this, the hotel was ok. Bathroom was fabulous. Rooms were quite spacious. Bed was ok. Aircon was variable, in one room ok, in the other barely making a difference. Receptionist was pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was also enough to not feel cheated.
Come with less hopes and you will be ok. And enter chinatown melaka in the GPS first, then once there, enter the hotel name :)
