“Quite Nice rooms, not much else to it but it was ok!”

The rooms were nice, they don't have queen or king beds so you just get 2 beds pushed together if you wanted a double room.. Which was annoying cause I slept down the crack half the night.
You got to walk 20 mins or catch a cab to get to the main part of Melaka. But if you want to walk it does feel safe.

“Clean and beautiful place for short stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2010

Its really clean. We are impressed by the interior design efforts to make best use of the limited space (I mean really narrow standard rooms). The bathroom is really nicely done up allowing lights from the room to flow through a vertical strip of semi transparent glass.

The continental breakfast (plus Nasi Lemak - a Malaysian favourite) is just sufficient and appropriate for B&B. The dining area, called Mood, is also carefully designed and modern.

I took a morning run along the Melaka river, through the broadwalk, the bridges and the river bank pathways along the Malay villages and old heritage houses. Its probably 4km if you make a round trip from one end to another. Its a quick way to "run" through the historical sites along Melaka river.

“Clean and Barebones, but good value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2010

Hard to locate on the Malaysian NUVI GPS, we spent 3 hours roaming around the backwaters of Melaka and Negri Sembilan before finally locating a board pointing to Bandar Melaka. Disconnecting the GPS, we reached Melaka at 3pm instead of noon. Hotel was almost missed, as it is totally non-descript from the arrival road unless you approach it from Munshi Abdullah. Parked on the corner of Jalan Bungah Raya Pantai in front of the chinese restaurant to offload passengers and then searched for parking in Renaissance hotel a block away. Then lugged the luggage all the way back to the hotel and up the steps as there are no steps.
The second room turned out to be full of cigarette smoke and although the whole wing seemed to be empty, we were not give a room in there but a floor above. The elderly parents refused as they were too tired.

Aside from this, the hotel was ok. Bathroom was fabulous. Rooms were quite spacious. Bed was ok. Aircon was variable, in one room ok, in the other barely making a difference. Receptionist was pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was also enough to not feel cheated.

Come with less hopes and you will be ok. And enter chinatown melaka in the GPS first, then once there, enter the hotel name :)

“Clean, good value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2010

We booked at the Aldy Hotel Chinatown for 2 nights. Email response was fast and efficient and very helpful. Check in was a breeze. They already had our details and room was ready. We had the family room which could fit 5 single beds! That was good.
We arrived at 4pm and the room was ready. (quite unusual for a Malaysian hotel in our experience) Unfortunately the room had the afternoon sun and it felt like a sauna as the aircon was not switched on. But it was powerful enough to cool the room quite fast.
Bathroom was small but clean. Small touches which made the stay pleasant was that they had 5 towels all ready for us, the extra beds we requested were already set up with sufficient pillows and blankets all ready. The place was not as noisy as the other review suggested. Maybe it was because we had a room on the 3rd floor? Or we were too tired?
The hotel was about 15 min to Jonker Street. There is a Farmosa Chicken Rice shop at the corner. Parking was quite easy, around the corner of the building in a open space. RM$5/entry claimable from the front desk. Coffee shop serving local food at dinner was a good place for supper. Breakfast was about RM$15 for a set of ham, sausages, eggs and toast or RM$11 for a toast and eggs and coffee.
Overall, we had a good experience at this hotel. If your aim is just to have a place to rest for the night with no frills, then this is a reasonable, clean and average place.

“good for 1 night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2010

I stayed here for 1 night with my Intrepid tour group in december 09.

Rooms- good size, a lot of space, AC works good, bathroom/showers are clean, bed is comfortable.
Only problem is the noise level as it is located on a busy intersection...just bring earplugs.
Hotel- no frills, but still nice. Basic english spoken....most of this part of town is really local. Hope your bag isn't huge as there is no elevator...stairs only.
Location- a short walk to chinatown and the main attractions. Also near an ATM and money exchange.
I wouldn't consider Melaka as a main point of interest...if it wasn't a stop on my tour I wouldn't think to come here and I will never plan on coming back. It's just good for a daytrip...don't plan on staying here more than 1 night.
