“Peranakan Woman in My Room?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012 via mobile

I'm a student and my school organised a trip to Malacca. We stayed in this hotel and everything was PERFECT (except the water from the tap in the sink was yellow and smelled rusty). The thing is, we had a 2D1N stay and when i slept that night at 11.30pm, i had a dream. i dreamt of a Peranakan woman in a pretty red cheongsam, with floral embroidery. She was walking around my room in the dream. Her hair was shoulder length but i didn't get a glimpse of her face. Naturally i woke up-- but i wished i hadn't. I actually saw her. I saw her just as she glided out of sight. The wall was blocking my view so i didn't see where she went. I was, well, terrified. My roommate was fast asleep so i didn't want to disturb her. I forced myself to sleep after that, hiding under the covers. i knew better than to look for the woman. Now im back in Singapore and i still recall that memory. Was she real? Was she just a hallucination my dream cooked up? I'm afraid, but i am really curious to know. She didn't disturb me in any way, thankfully, but i still feel insecure. i knocked on the hotel room door before entering!! i just hope that the Peranakan woman finds peace and i assure you she won't hurt or disturb anyone. Maybe she just wanted me to know she was there.
Anyway, the overall stay was fantastic. I really enjoyed my trip to Malacca.
Thank you Renaissance. You made my stay one to remember. If i ever come back to Malacca, i wouldn't mind staying here again.

“Superb hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I've been in the hotel with family. The location is good. The lobby is beautiful. The room I loved it very much. The service no question perfect. You will find big room even with additional spare bed. It's really lux. The Breakfast was good. Bottom line perfect and worth for money.

“Well located for access to the river....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

My family and I stayed for one night in December 2011. Our welcome at reception was fine and we were upgraded. The beds provided were good but the additional rollaway was terribly hard and made the room cramped. We were able to walk easily from the hotel to the river which gave us access to the riverboat ride down to all the historic attractions. We had room service after a really busy day and the food was great. Breakfast also offered good variety. The stay was better than I expected based on previous reviews. Free wi-fi in the lobby was a hit with my teenagers. Mould around the aircon vent - given the climate it is probably an ongoing problem but worrying as to the health effects. Concierge provided map and advice.

Room Tip: ask to be upgraded to the Club Floor

“More detailed review.... From my cny hometown stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Stayed two nights in cny with three room bookings. Another two nights spent at equatorial hotel. Thus writing all down for a side by side comparison whilst the memory is fresh..

Likes: the room size, full height glass window with good view of Melaka, very nice breakfast buffet(if included in ur booking),location(if you plan to drive around to and fro the hotel, the vehicle jam is not as severe as equatorial),nice and spacious lobby(if you prefer, but not impt IMO),free wifi and LAN for marriott rewards member(register your acct number at the receptionist)
Get a twin bed room instead of a king bed room, as this when adjoined can fit two adult and two young kids <4yrs old. Baby cot is foc btw, and is solid wood built.
Cheap price.

Dislike: relatively worse off in customer service if compared to equatorial, older room, floor a bit sticky, got a room full of smoking scent this time round for non smoking floor, not hotels fault but add to the dislike. They did try to apply air refreshner upon notified.another room with water leaking from Aircond outlet, changed to another room. Can be some distance from the tourist spot by walking, if you are a tourist without car.

“Service is efficient, facilities can be improved”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

Room is quite spacious. Even though bed sunken in the middle, it was still comfortable.
It has plenty of pillows. Couch was dirty (with stained), fridge was not clean, has coke stain. Jug has brownish stain.
Service was very prompt. Jug was replaced almost immediately upon request. Request for ice cube was delivered within minutes. Check-out was fast.
Hotel has covered multi-storey carpark, pay RM3 per stay.
Security can be enhanced by using room access card to access room levels

Room Tip: Go for corner room, not facing main room, higher room
