This hotel located in the Town area, 5-10 mins drive to the Historical Site, Jonker Walk, Eye of Malaysia... Next to the hotel is the Main Outlet of Tan Kim Hock Products Center (Selling those famous local products & delicious Durian/ Coconut Cendol)
This the place should visit when you are in Malacca. Awesome, as i never see so many local products available at the Shop.

We found the room is comfortable and have very big parking space. (Free parking). We knew from the counter staff they are just re-open back the hotel few months ago after they finished refurbishment and do some touch up.
We only paying for RM 79 nett per room and the hotel staff are very nice to upgrade us to Deluxe room. ( May be they knew we bring along kids)

Overall we find the hotel is a good budget hotel, value for money.

With a supermarket selling local food and beverage beside the hotel cannot complement the poorly run and maintained hotel. The hot water for bathroom was on and off from time to time, furnitures were old, and my room even had a big hole around the air-con outlet (I checked the hole for many times to ensure there was no camera or pin-head-video installed). The water boiling facility would be provided only upon request. However, the location of the hotel is considerably good with enough parking space. Well, my advice, skip this hotel and go for a better one.

My first impression of Tan Kim Hock Hotel when we first arrived there was "this must be one of the must-go tourists' spot!". Why? Because many tourists arrive at the products centre (just next to the hotel) daily in coaches to buy from the wide range of local products offered there. The location of the store just next to the hotel provided us with the convenience of getting the products just before we left Malacca.

The hotel room is quite standard, in term of decor. Warm and cozy feeling. The floor is carpeted but it seems that the housekeeper doesn't use a vacuum cleaner to vacuum it as we found little cockroaches coming out from under the bed when we dimmed the lights. Some cobwebs / dust webs could be found around the bed and the bedsheets are slightly stained, probably a result of removing the stubborn stain too late.

Other than the 'bad' points mentioned above, we are quite satisfied with the cleanliness of the bathroom and the towels provided. The bathtub is also a plus and the air-conditioner is working fine (though sometimes it is not cooling enough for the hot weather).

In conclusion, the room is up to standard for the price we paid (about RM78). In fact, the little cockroaches didn't bother us that much as we went back to stay in the hotel for the 2nd time. Tan Kim Hock hotel will always remain as an okay choice for us, until we find a better one for the same price.
