This hotel is delightful, luxurious but lacks one main ingredient in my view.... warmth and friendliness. We were on a business trip and decided to upgrade from the Novotel Pudong Avenue to Grand Hyatt. Whilst the accommodation was much more luxurious than a Novotel (and why wouldn't it be as a 5* hotel). The lack of human warmth and the excessive behaviour of the restaurant staff made us want to sign out and return to the Novotel. I fully understand that culturally things are done somewhat differently; but to be rude to one's co-workers publicly, and to literally run from table to table in order to be seen to be efficient was, I must say one of the worst experiences I have had and believe me I have travelled extensively.
The Grand Hyatt needs to seriously consider their staff training procedures. The one thing I do not want to see is a waiter running from table to table whilst I am trying to have a relaxing meal.
