Stopping for a late lunch after a wine tasting adventure, we were immediately greeted with a smile and seated at any table we wanted. Menus and drink orders were taken by a friendly young man. We asked for the turkey pesto sandwich and coconut chicken soup.
What a pleasant lunch ..... the soup was a perfect blend of flavors .... with a hint of coconut .... not over powering.... just right.... with chicken and veggies.
The Turkey pesto sandwich was again, excellent...... a unique blend of turkey, thinly sliced cucumber, crisp lettuce, tomato and Chef Adam's homemade pesto.
Service was professional, friendly, informative, prompt and well timed ( we were not asked if we wanted more drinks right after taking a bite of our sandwiches ).
Clean, a touch funky, a blend of music playing in the background ( not blasting ) with great service and excellent choices on the menu..... one Cafe you will leave with a smile.

In a lesser-known area of Arizona, now coming into its own due to a growing vineyard and tasting room industry, my daughter and I stumbled onto an absolute gem of a restaurant: The Café (new name, f/k/a Cafe at Sonoita). The building is certainly unimpressive from the highway; in fact, you might call it funky.
Inside, the walls are hung with photographs and paintings, many by local artists. The modest interior is suffused with ample natural light. It is in the FOOD that The Café really shines. I had a scrumptious poblano chile stuffed with chicken breast. My daughter had the steak salad; the steak was tender and the greens fresh. We shared a delightful Oreo cheesecake which certainly was generous enough for two. I did not sample any wine on this visit, as we were on the way back from tastings at two wineries in the area.
Cheerful service, friendly locals and delicious food – we certainly hope to stop here again on our next trip to Arizona. (Note: the website seems to be under construction, as many of the links do not go anywhere yet.)

When you eat healthy and tasty at home all the time, restaurant food can be a bit of a downer, so it's always an unexpected pleasure to find a place like Café Sonoita, especially in a rural area.

Burgers are their speciality -- and they serve all natural, grass-fed beef! The APE burger ($12 with a hearty choice of sides) was a delight! They say "no two are alike," so you are getting the chef's creativity in every bite. Mine was a lovely juicy burger served with eggplant and pesto, as well as a lovely white cheese (I wasn't paying attention when she told us what it was). I chose a creamy cole slaw to accompany it.

APE is the signature of the chef: The Adam Puckle Experience.

I asked for it to be cooked medium, and it was a bit pink for me. In a regular restaurant that would have concerned me, but I wasn't worried about local grass-fed beef. The taste was excellent.

I had a Spaten Oktoberfest beer with mine, and my friend had a glass of Syrah from nearby Rancho Rossa Vineyards. I'm not a wine connoisseur, but this had a rich and lovely smoky but fruity bouquet and taste. My friend bought a bottle to take home.

They also had other gourmet items on the menu -- one of the lunch specials yesterday was a green apple and walnut salad -- and I'm betting all ingredients were local there, too. I didn't look at the menu in depth; I was there for the burger!

Lovely views, pleasant interior, plenty of seating, genuinely friendly and accommodating staff. I will definitely be making this a lunch spot a couple of times a month.

We stopped here September 15 for lunch, on the way to the Wilhelm Family Vineyard for a wine tasting. It has changed the name to just The Cafe, and we found it to be a cute, small, clean, and interesting little place. They are expanding with outdoor dining and have plans for live music.
Chef Adam is very creative and is very young, being about 25 years old but he knows his stuff!
He is creative with flavors and ingredients. He is a local young man who has come back to Sonoita, from his schooling, to start this cafe. We wish him well and know he will succeed.
The sandwiches range from $7 to $9 and are plentiful. We even split a tuna melt and had two side orders to fill in. The desserts are good too and the coffee had a robust flavor!
They are open on Mondays from 9 a.m to 5 p.m, Tuesday-Thursday-Sunday 11 a.m to 3 p.m and Friday-Saturday 11 a.m to 2 p.m and then open for dinner at 5 p.m to 9 p.m
We would make the 55 minute drive down from Tucson for a lunch or even a special dinner it is that good!
Best of Luck, Chef Adam!!

I stopped in here on a short tour of Arizona wine country. There's not a whole lot in Sonoita, so this place was a welcome surprise. They had a special that day: fried shrimp tacos served with cole slaw. I usually don't go for seafood, but these sounded good and they were outstanding. Not much I can say about this place other than the food is very good and the property clean and appealing.
