My wife and I last went on a 'B&B' trip to Scotland in 1976. 4 nights at the Auld Alliance blotted out that (generally poor to bad) experience and replaced it with a special memory of quiet quality, an amazingly energetic and unendingly charming, helpful hostess (whose husband takes superb landscape photographs) and the stunning view across Gairloch from our bedroom. Breakfast is a happy occasion, with or without Corinne's speciality scrambled egg, smoked salmon and croissant. The location is an excellent centre for a number of hill, forest and coastal walks, of which Corinne can provide information and maps. Gairloch itself has some reasonable restaurants (quality and price) and a very good, informative local museum, well worth a visit on a wet morning. It was memorable for all the right reasons.
