“There's a reason they're No 1!”

What an amazing week we had.. I was in the same party as the previous 3 reviewers so I won't repeat what they have already said - other than what amazing hosts Simon and Soraya were every day and Jay/Laura were as owners.. We were a large group and all had differing needs and wants for the week and every expectation was met.. As my friends have commented, the food was amazing every night without fail and the daily cake got better every day! The chalet was always warm and welcoming with every amenity you would expect and want.. Beds were really comfortable and the place is kept immaculately clean.

The chalet has a wii and plenty of games to keep you entertained, a full DVD library which literally covers every genre and cd's too.. There was also a small collection of books for us to work our way through if we ran out..

The chalet has an honesty bar with drinks and snacks (and with beer at 95p for a large bottle no one was complaining!) which was a really nice touch.

Our hosts were never intrusive but always friendly.. They all know the resort exceptionally well (especially Jay) and were able to recommend many things to us while we were there.. We did a couple of the local bars (which were good but not as cheap as maybe some previous reviews led us to believe) and one night we all went to a local restaurant, the name of which escapes me, which served huge portions of great food!! It made a nice change and gave us some idea of the local culture..

We were there for New Year's Eve and had a great night in the square with the locals, dancing and fireworks were brilliant, would really recommend it..

Resort wise, the only downside for me was the length of the bus journey from the airport (just over 2.5 hours), which is long I suppose after 3 hours on a plane but definitely worth it. The resort itself is lovely, really well spaced out and covers all skillsets from beginners to experts.. Ski equipment is hired from a shop which is literally 2 mins from the gondolas.. You need to be there early to beat the queues for the gondolas! Some mornings were hectic and one day our group was queuing for over an hour! To be expected I suppose but would recommend getting there for 8-8.15am, any later and you are stuck for a while..

A brilliant trip, fantastic chalet and great food/hosts.. You will be hard pushed to find better! Thank you so much to Simon, Soraya, Jay and Laura for a great first skiiing holiday!

Room Tip: There were a variety of rooms (doubles, twins and quads) and they were all lovely! Rooms to the bac...

“A wonderful first ski holiday!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Chalet Jura and Bansko are a wonderful combination for a first ski holiday experience. The staff at Chalet Jura were superb; very attentive and flexible. Simon and Saria, our hosts, were both excellent, providing unobtrusive help and care throughout the week's stay. Their cooking was excellent! The chalet provides warm and cosy accomodation with the added bonus of free transfers to the slopes / ski hire shop. Overall Jura provides outstanding value for money.
Bansko is a great resort if you are not sure that you will become an avid ski fan, as well as being a great place for the seasoned skier, with pleanty of challenge on the slopes. I would strongly recommend Bankso for a much cheaper but equally good experience for a ski holiday. The flights in and out were straightforward and the transfer from Sofia to the resort relatively easy - 2.5 Hrs.

“A fantastic week at Chalet Jora!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Saraya and Simon were great hosts and provided the most amazing food every evening...the roast duck was a particular highlight! Along with Jay & Laura they made our stay easy, stress free and great fun. I’d really recommend Method ski school...ask for Mike who got me doing things on skis I never would have thought possible after a terrible first day with a different ski school! The chalet is cosy and welcoming with good facilities. Bansko was a great place to learn to ski and was beautiful with 5 days of blue skies and great snow.

“Chalet Joyful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Just got back after spending Boxing Day - 2nd Jan 2012 at Chalet Jora. What a great choice! The owners, Laura and Jay couldn't do enough to help make our stay comfortable but real credit has to go to their day to day managers, Simon and Saraya who were totally professional yet friendly and always going the extra mile for us. Everything was always done with a smile and a "can do" attitude and with a group of 10 of us who are, let's say, not particularly shy in coming forward, they dealt with us with aplomb. Saraya's cakes were to die for but the next group who goes must make Laura commit to a bake-off with Saraya!!

The lifts to and from the gondola were very welcome, as was the very discounted entrance to the spa which Jay transported us to without question. The chalet was always warm and clean with an authentic rustic feel throughout.

We also loved meeting one of the dogs Jay is trying re-home - Brown; I would have brought him back with me if I could; I keep my fingers crossed he will find a good home soon. Woof woof!!

“Even better than the first time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

A group of 10 of us went back to Chalet Jora in March of this year, having first visited a few seasons ago when it first opened. We were really impressed with the quality of the service and the attentiveness of the hosts/chalet owners, Laura and Jay, then. We were even more impressed this year as they have improved the chalet substantially, with all of the bathrooms having been newly refurbished. Jay's hosting skills have refined to a black belt standard and Laura's food was even tastier than ever!
We can't recommend Chalet Jora highly enough, though, as you can see we're not alone.
We're planning our next trip to Bansko for next year, it's an absolute gem, as I said three years ago, still half the price of the Alpine resorts. Chalet Jora is a little gem!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are really cosy and warm. It depends on the make up of your party. There are rooms...
