A group of five of us stayed at Thip Residence for 13 nights. All the staff were great, the rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean, food at the 'Jasmine Rice' was excellent and reasonably priced, and for us the location was perfect. We hired a car for 7 days which was organised by Ju. Although getting around by bus, taxi, tuk tuk and boat was easy, having a car enabled us to get to the more inaccessable places which was a bonus. Driving was easy although road signs are a bit unreliable.
The local beach has a charecter of its own although it is not perfect for swimming.
A full day trip by speedboat to 4 fantastic islands cost £21 each with food included (see Ju for details). For those who like to wander, there are lots of accessable tracks around Thip and I identified around 90 species of birds, most of which were new to me. It was the best holiday we have ever had.

Thip residence was definitely a delight. We stayed 11 nights. We both are very particular in our choices of places to stay. We read great reviews about the place and we were very pleased with our stay. The place is super clean, have nice decor, feels like home, the staff and the owner are wonderful people and made it all the more enjoyable. They were helpful and accommodating in every way. There are very interested in making your stay as good as it could be. It is not your touristy part of town and that is why we loved it. We wanted a place that is close but not in the middle of all tourist attractions and this place gave us what we want. You can take a long tail boat to Railay Beach, you could rent a scooter to go to AoNang or Krabi Town. You could take any of the excursion tours while staying there and they will come and pick you up from the hotel. We did Kayaking, snorkeling and visited the places around. There is a horse riding place very close to the hotel as well. We were supposed to stay at Phi Phi Island for two days and we changed our minds as we were very comfortable at Thip hotel and we didn't want a crowded and touristy area. We still went for a day visit to Phi Phi Island which was a good choice for us. Thip hotel offers a scooter for 200 baht a day or you could use the hotel bike for free and go out exploring on a bike. Our room was spacious and is a great value for the money, had a view of the sea and a balcony. The breakfast was included in our stay and they offer quite few options of western breakfast. You could have lunch and dinner at the restaurant and the prices are very good. Excellent food. We fell in love with their Thip Salad, Mud Sum chicken curry dish is a delight. I had it more times than I could count. The dishes are made with fresh ingredients and they are quite healthy with incredible flavors.. It is hard to eat in other places once you try their food. We enjoyed our stay and we think it is great value for the price.

THE HOTEL :
Clean, spacious, nice food ...... great value.
The staff where proffessional but not formal.....very friendly and helpful.......perfect !!!

THE LOCATION - AO NAMMAO
A reletively quite Thai area with good links to Ao Nang (10 mins on Tuk Tuk) and Krabi Town (15mins on tuk tuk).
Unfortunately not much of a beach but has its own genuine/untouristy character (working pier, market and street food).
It is slightly out of the way but has all the 'big draws' on its doorstep (Railey Beach etc)

I would definately recomend this hotel and location......faultless !!

Thip Residence was the most beatiful place we have stayed in Thailand.

The service, starting at the reception on our arrivel, was absolutely friendly and perfekt. There was nowhere such a mass of information about the near tourist environment (Prices, Traveltips, Maps etc.)

The rooms were new and beatiful designed. Spa Area, Internet, Library.

Everything to find in one nice Place.

Thip Residence is a boutique hotel, with lovely decor designed by the owners who built the place themselves. It is clean and airy. Our room was spacious, with a balcony that overlooked the beautiful gardens. They are currently building a swimming pool out the back too, although there are no disruptive building works going on.

The air con was very good and there was a TV in the room, as well as free bottled water each day which they leave for you in your fridge.

We ate in the restaurant a couple of times and found it to be excellent food and great value for money. The staff were so friendly and very attentive. Each morning when we chose where to sit for breakfast they would ensure we had a fan beside us, and were great when we enquired about tours or local places to visit.

It's also a brilliant location in terms of getting taxi's or tuk tuks because it's very close to the pier, so you can tell the driver to head there instead of be faced with an awkward conversation about what place you're staying on in the middle of a random country road! We also hired their own motorbike from them for a day at a fantastic rate, and explored the local beaches and coastline.

It was a wonderful place to relax and take in that part of Krabbi. It was a great 'jumping off' point to go and do tours, or visit nearby places such as Ao Nang, Rayleigh, and the surrounding islands. You can get a long tail boat to Rayleigh from the pier (about 5 mins walk away). We did the 4 Island Tour (definitely worth doing) which Thip Residence organised for us - they used Green Planet who were excellent. We were picked up and dropped off at the hotel, and the tour guide spoke very good English, as well as giving us a great lunch.

There are a lot of mossies here, but that's because you are in a beautifully peaceful, green area, but as long as you are careful to apply mosquito repellant each morning and evening, and after a shower, you shouldn't get any bites - I suggest anything with DEET in it. We also just made sure our bedroom door was opened for as little time as possible, so if you're sensible you shouldn't have a problem.

We felt so relaxed and welcomed there that we booked an extra night before catching our boat to Phi-Phi (also arranged by Thip so we were collected at the hotel).

I'd definitely recommend this as a place to stay and have already been telling friends and family about it and urging them to go to Krabbi and stay at Thip!
