When we first checked in, we were immediately upgraded to a King Suite. This room was big witha jacuzzi tub in the room. We had a nice pool view room on the 2nd floor. The room was bright and clean. The hotel looked somewhat new. I didn't hear the neighbors either which is always a plus. This hotel is within walking distance to the beach ( a dog beach is close as well). We watched the sunset from the dog beach while watching all of the dogs running and playing, and then walked over to Woody's restaurant about a half a block from the hotel. I highly recommend this restaurant as the food was delicious and then you can walk back to the hotel from there. This hotel has a nice pool and jacuzzi. There is a restaurant next to the pool. I especially liked the fire pit outside by the pool. We sat out there in the morning with our coffee before we checked out to go home. I recommend this hotel because the customer service is excellent and the rooms were nice and clean. There is also a starbucks on the premises.

Room tip: Ask for a high floor with pool view.

Nice Courtyard Marriott in Solana Beach area with easy walk to nice beaches. Also easy drive to San Diego, lower cost and more relaxing area to stay than San Diego town. Local restaurants in nearby Del Mar are in easy driving distance for evening meals. Small pool and Jacuzzi in central courtyard. Only slight letdown was that the breakfast allowed on the B&B rate was a choice of Continental or a fry-up: if you wanted a yogurt or a bowl of cereal with your fryup that was extra money. However that didn't really detract from this being a pleasant hotel to stay for visiting the area.

Room tip: Rooms overlooking the central courtyard will have no traffic noise.

Highly recommend this Courtyard and its staff. It's usually the little things that separate a great experience from a mediocre one, and this hotel paid great attention to them.

I reserved 2 rooms for my parents and their friends this past week (October 2012). In addition to the great location, room quality, beach-friendliness, etc. that the other reviews tout, the staff (Matthew and Phoenix in particular) were very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Everything from handling the special billing request to accommodating our room needs was top-notch. In addition, when we accidentally left keys behind, the hotel team was very prompt in getting them sent back to her.

I would stay at this property whenever I'm in the area.

If you are looking for a nice hotel in Solana Beach within walking distance of the Amtrak train station, this is a good choice. A lot has been done to spruce up the lobby and interior courtyard. The outdoor patio with comfortable chairs and a fireplace provides a nice touch for the evenings. They also added a Bistro in the courtyard which has an interesting menu, but the food was hit-or-miss. The rooms themselves are reasonable, but they obviously didn't get the makeover the lobby did. Still, everyone there was very nice and helpful and there are tons of great shops and restaurants with walking distance. Because of the condos behind it, reaching the beach is a bit of an effort, but still walkable. It's also located a couple of blocks from the Cedros Avenue Design District with a hundred different design, jewelry, furniture, garden and other assorted furnishings stores. We spent several hours going from store to store and really enjoyed the eclectic and often unique offerings.

Room tip: Stay in the back away from the main street if you want some quiet

My wife and I stayed here for five nights on a short vacation. The first night we were in a room on the back side of the hotel on a residential street. All was o.k. until around 6:00 a.m. when traffic started up and it became noisy. We were moved to a room overlooking the courtyard which was nice. Overall the room was good except the air conditioner turns on and off all night and is a little loud. No way to keep the fan on all the time. The other thing was that they have a nice area with couches in inthe courtyard with a fireplace. The down side is that people sit there and talk loudly, sometimes until 2:00 a.m. It was a pretty nice place, but I think next time we will stay at the Holiday Inn Express next door where we have stayed before. Not as fancy, but quieter.

Room tip: Stay away from the back street and the couch/fireplace in the courtyard.
