My mom and I were disappointed with this place after reading plenty of good reviews on TripAdvisor. Yes, it was a very low price ($65/night for a full cottage), but was shabby, worn-down, without any nice decor or charm, and reeked of cigarette smoke. The owner, Herb, tried his best to be helpful, upgrading us to a full cottage when the A/C in the efficiency we booked broke and even loaning us beach chairs. But I would not return to this run-down place. It matched the run-down, unattractive town of Englewood pretty well.

I stayed at the Englewood Bay Motel and Apartments July 2013 and my son and I had a wonderful time. Rooms are clean. Staff very friendly and helpful in navigating around town with sights and shopping. I would most definitely recommend staying here.

The rooms are dirty. Hair and stains on the sheets. Smells like cigarettes. Dirty mop left outside the door. Owner is grumpy and raised the price of the room once we arrived. The washing machine was broken, and the laundry room was cluttered and filthy. (Probably why there is hairin the beds. People hang out near parking lot til late at night. There are few options for places to stay near Grove City/Englewood. This place wouldn't be bad if it were clean and maintained better.I suggest you just drive 10 more minutes farther up the road and get a decent hotel.

Stayed here late winter March 2013. Had a wonderful time visiting the beaches and restaurants in the area. Owner/couple very nice and welcoming as well as helpful. Our unit had a king bed, very comfy, living room and kitchenette as well as decent walk in shower. It is old Florida at its best. It is a good neighborhood, nice walking location, and close to Manasota beaches we love. Would definitely stay there again.

Room tip: In addition to hotel type rooms, they have a couple of independant small homes onsite. Would like to try them, too.
