I stayed at the Wilderness Lodge with my boyfriend for Halloween in Oct 2011. We had been here once before and decided to come back because of it's cosy feel and short distance from the magic kingdom.

When we arrived from UK we had a few problems at check-in because our travel company had not applied our tickets and dining plan to our reservations. The staff at the Wilderness Lodge could not have been more helpful. Because of the time difference they would not be able to correct the mistake till the next day and said they would do this first thing tomorrow and said we should charge any food to our card and they would take it off our dining plan the next day. They even sent the manager, Benett to reassure us that everything would be sorted and he was extremely helpful and friendly as were all the staff. Sure enough when I went to the lobby at 8am the next morning everything was sorted and our dining plan sorted, I was very impressed.

Our room was cleaned every day to a high standard and despite being a adult couple I still loved coming back to a new towel animal in our room. The roaring fork was great, and we were allowed to get food and bring it back to our room. However, after 10 days we did a bit bored of burgers and chicken nuggets but still great for a quick bite. The pool was very quiet during our stay and I loved relaxing in the hot tub and having fun in the pool. Being an adult couple we didn't get involved in the children's party by the pool but it looked like fun. The only comment on the pool is that it didn't seem overly clean first time we went in, however we put this down to it being an outside pool and leaves would envitably sneak in and it was the late afternoon. But when we went in the next morning it was still filled with leaves or dirt which kind of put me off. It did get better through the stay though.

We had no problems with transportation as the buses were always only 10mins wait. However, we begun to find that the bus to the Magic Kingdom was faster than the boat because it was less busy but not as nice as sailing across the lake.

Overall, I love this resort and the staff are so amazing. Love the lodge feel and sitting by the fire in the evening and reviewing our photos and videos from the day. I recommend this resort to everyone.

Visited in Nov, 2011. The lobby and theming of this hotel is impeccable. We did not get the opportunity to dine at Whispering Canyon. It was convenient to have roaring forks on site, though we were not overly impressed with the food or dining area. The pool is nice, though not too big and the waterslide was not available when we were swimming. My boys loved exploring the immense lobby and tracking the animals paw prints. The rooms were nothing great, standard motel fare ... in terms of cleanliness it appeared okay to us, except for one long black hair (not ours!) which was on the shower wall for 2 days. The best part about this hotel is getting to see the electric pagent at night (be warned, its a bit loud) and the boat to the magic kingdom. It was so great to take that boat back from the magic kingdom while hundreds of people waited for buses / monorail.
Transportation to the other parks was okay, generally under 10 minutes.

I visited Disney's Wilderness Lodge in August/September 2011 and it was amazing. At first looking at the pictures online I wasn't too sure at first. The main reason i had my doubts was the fact at dinner they have games for the kids and if you dont join in it was said they get funny with you. Well that is not the case at all!! As i went with my two sisters and my brother in-law ages 26-33 they didnt place within the games therefore not having kids round us running around like mad and the staff were brilliant still getting you involved but not with the kids which was great. The whispering cannon restaurant is amazing the staff are soo funny and you have to take their mannerism with a pinch of salt as its whole part of the act. The food there is mouth watering and the buffet for breakfast is a must try and they bring the buffett to you so if your funny about sharing food with strangers you dont have to worry at all as they cook to order.
The rooms were comfortable and access to all the parks are excellent as you only have to share a bus with the grand floridan so you dont have loads of bus stops before you get to your hotel.

if your coming from the UK the dinning plan is a HUGE MUST. Its value for money is excellent at first its a bit confusing on what you can have etc but once you get the hang of it the amount of food you get is excellent. But BOOK the table in UK online before you go out there as everyone on a dining plan books ahead and therefore getting a table can be hard.

One thing i must say that everyone if they can do it you must its excellent. You MUST have a meal at the grand floridan "Narcoossee's" restaurant during the Magic Kingdoms Firework display is really good as you get to see everything and have a fantastic meal at the same time.
I had an amazing time and the hotel is highly recommended and I will definatley be going again 100%

Room tip: The dinning Plan is MUST the amount of food you get for the amount you pay is brilliant we hardly spent any money on food. One thing though in downtown disney you cant use the dinning plan in some restaurants therefore they get booked up quickly so highly recommend that you BOOK BEFORE you get to florida as you can book tables online on the disney website.

I love Disney. I have been going in all capacities since I was 3 months old (I.m 33). We recently went with my husband, 2 kids (ages 4 and 6) my sister in law and bother in law. We stayed one night here because it was more economic at the military resort on property. We stayed in a family suite that would be equavilant to what you'd get if you owned a Disney vacation club timeshare. In true Disney fashion everything is tastefully overdone. Lobby is amazing, service was top notch (no wait on a Friday evening to check in!!) and there were food choices for all ages and Budgets in the lobby. We ate at the cafeteria style restaurant and had plenty of food for four people for approx $30. The location and property continue to be the best part of this hotel. If you have young children the location near the magic kingdom is perfect. I only have two complaints but considering its Disney it caused me to dock it a star. The resort has gotten so large that it was a good 5 walk to the room and thats if there is no one else around. More like 8-10 if it's busy. That's a long walk w kiddos after along Mickey filled day. Second the room was very dated and worn. Horrible light in the bathrooms and the carpet was very worn. It was a fantastic use of space that slept 7 very comfortably and was very lodge themed but I wouldn't spend that kind of money to stay again until they've updated.

Room tip: Ask for a room closer to the lobby
