My family and I recently stayed at this "resort" and have nothing good to say about the experience. For background, this was our third stay in the Kissimmee area while enjoying the local amusement parks. We're familiar with the rates for comparable hotels and will never stay at this location again. You're better off staying at a cheap $30/night or $150/wk motel, because that's basically what this place is for over 3x the cost.
First, we booked a 5 night stay with an entertainment package that was supposed to include a Kid's Eat Free card, a VIP Play for Less and Dine for Less card as well. Upon check in, they claimed they had no idea what those promotions were and would not honor them. Over the next 48 hours (while we were standing in line at the parks), several hotel employees bounced me from number to number absolving themselves of personal responsibility.
Second, the "free high speed internet" in the room is a farce. It didn't work. When we reported the problem, they denied experiencing any difficulties. Wireless is only available in the lobby. When I asked other guests if they were having problems with the internet in their room, they validated my concerns and confirmed that the internet in the rooms didn't work. Unless you have a smart phone, good luck getting on the internet in this hotel.
Third, the free shuttle schedule isn't very flexible. The drop off times at the local parks are well after opening, so by the time you get to the parks the lines are tremendous.
Fourth, the A/C unit rattled all night. If you wanted to sleep at a comfortable temperature, you had to sleep with ear plugs.
And finally, this isn't even a REAL Country Inn and Suites. Most hotel chains have a distinguishing characteristic that separates them from the competition. Country Inn and Suites is supposed to have fresh hot cookies out for their guests every evening for checkin. During our 5-day stay, cookies were only made available on 2 of the nights. That may seem petty, but to those with children who know the deal, this is a grave injustice. I even asked the employee at the desk one night about why there were no cookies. My question actually prompted her to do her job, and she quickly presented my kids with the basket of the stale cookies which were left out the previous evening.
From now on, we'll be staying at the Embassy Suites. There are several in the Orlando/Kissimmee area. For about $20 more a night, you get a free gourmet breakfast and an open bar every night. Who can argue with that?
Room Tip: Don't stay here.
