We were looking for a place to stay overnight that was near the Punta Gorda Airport because of a early flight.Wound up staying a extra night because we wanted to see friends in Fort Myers before heading home.We had never been in Punta Gorda or at the Wayvern Hotel before, but I can say that we will definitely be back. Not only is the Hotel and there staff wonderful, the location is great overlooking the peace river and close to every thing in town.
Thank you for a wonderful stay, we only wish that we would have stayed the whole week.

Room tip: Rooms facing the river.

My husband and I stayed at the Wyvern for 3 1/2 months, problems with our roof.
Great stay, the whole staff made us feel like family. Although we had to move rooms a few times, Gisela at the front desk was so helpful and accommodating to us. Along with Alexis, the bellman. And Marabella, in housekeeping. We love the rooftop bar! Sitting up kn the roof having an evening drink watching the sun set. Chris is a great bartender and makes great mojitos. The food in the resturant was really good. With Cooper serving!
All in all, the stay was comfortable, homey and inviting. Thank you all!

The hotel is lovely and immaculate; public spaces and our guest room were beyond clean and well kept. Although the facility itself is fabulous, the service is another story. After reading so many reviews raving about the warm and fabulous service, our experience was just "meh". No welcome at check in other than the business of checking in, and the rooftop bar and breakfast service at Curve the next morning were both sorely lacking. It shouldn't matter that it's the middle of the week in off season; service should not suffer. With that said Weill be back, and hopefully will experience the level of service we expo this time. should not suffer. With that said, we will be back, and

My girlfriend and I needed a break from South Florida (Broward) and wanted to revisit the Charlotte Harbor area and the Wyvern Hotel from a couple of years before. First off, let me say that if you are looking for a class act hotel, very comfortable and within walking distance of some great restaurants, you can do no better than the Wyvern. We love it and will be back.

The pros & cons:

Let's start with some minor, but important cons.

The television A/V system has known problems which need to be corrected NOW! I don't want to hear that the engineer is currently off-property. Get your system fixed. Also, the flat screen TVs are a bit small for the rooms, being only about 30". Update to 42" or better, but at least make sure the AV system works flawlessly!

The pool heater was not working, and the pool temps were around 75. Heated pools should be around 85 or better. Again, I don't want to hear on the weekend that the hotel engineer is not on site. Fix things, or find a better engineer!

Again for the pool area; BUY BETTER, LARGER POOL (Beach) TOWELS! The cheap hand-towel sized pieces of cloth currently available absolutely SUCK!!! (sorry, but they really are a joke).

Finally, the entrance portico really needs to cover the place where people are trying to load/unload. Any chance of some improvement?

The Pros are almost too numerous to mention.

A great staff, everyone very friendly and helpful.

A very clean and comfortable hotel. The maid staff is great, the rooms impeccable, and the Sealy Perfect Sleeper beds are wonderful. Also, the blackout drapes are amazing! If you want or need midnight at 9 a.m., it works!

Also, the hotel is adjacent to Hwy 41 North, with traffic accelerating over the Peace River bridge. Except for a few Harleys or mini-rocket noisemakers, the large windows don't allow for much, if any, noise. Very quiet rooms. Thank you!!

One of the coolest rooftop bar/pool places in Florida. Nice view, great staff, fun venue that is also open to non-guests. Would be better if beverage waiter service was available poolside, but still a very cool place to spend a sunny afternoon.

We hope the Wyvern management will take care of the small issues that keep this excellent 4-star hotel from being SW Florida's best 5-star attraction!

The rooms are splendid and the staff is accommodating. I am a Charlotte County local but have stayed at the hotel numerous times for 'Staycations'. Always leave feeling refreshed and good. The bar downstairs is underrated; they will mix you a great cocktail and their beer selection is good. The entire staff is dedicated to catering to nobody else but YOU!
