I've been trying to get my husband into Backpacking, but he has an issue with the lack of showers while roughing it - the Hike Inn made a great compromise and introduction to backpacking for him. We were able to enjoy the short 5 mile hike over easy/moderate terrain, then relax in comfort and cleanliness...plus we didn't have to cook!
The 2-person bunk rooms are very small, but we only spent time in the room while changing or sleeping. All other time was spent in the "sunrise room" playing board games and doing puzzles, in the dining room eating excellent food, or wandering around the grounds taking in the great views. We went on a weekend where we were among a very small minority of folks not in a huge group (there was a group of 14 and a group of 11 or 12), so we didn't have much interaction with other hikers like we were hoping, but I think people are normally more interactive.
If you happen to go yourself, I'd suggest: 1) take your own blanket or sleeping bag if you get cold at night (the provided blankets may not be warm enough during the winter), 2) try all of the food, even if you've never heard of it (we were introduced to a great 'spoon bread' at breakfast), 3) bring any old games or puzzles you no longer use at home (they'll certainly get used at the Hike Inn).
