Really a great place for the price. I had a reservation for a night, and pulled in at about 10pm to a full motel with a no vacancy sign on the door, thinking oh no, I'm screwed, but the owner opened to door before I was able to reach it, and checked me in and saw me to my room, where he showed me around and how to use the TV. Nice cozy little room, but had a microwave, fridge, flat TV and a bathroom that broke the charts as far as clean hotel bathrooms go. I liked how the fixtures were not 'hotel style,' being all white and simple as could be. The shower was a stone tile and the faucet and mirror were a rustic kinda metal - It just felt more homey. The place was so clean, and the owner said they really stay on top of it to try and have to place booked every night, and sure enough, that Monday night they were full.
Reading a few bad reviews here, a had nothing the experience of those reviewers. My room was beyond clean, and when I checked in, the owner asked me what I wanted my door passcode to be. The internet worked fine for me, and It was very quiet despite being at capacity. I liked the fact that the area around the motel was not over lit, its a motel in the middle of a corn field, and not having lights everywhere was soothing. The owner told me he had recently purchased the place 2 years ago from an 87 year old gentlemen who still lived in town. Ever since he has been upgrading and renovating the place, really doing a nice job. Yeah there was some construction equipment around the back of the place, but no construction while I was there.
Compared to the Motel 6 I could have booked in South Bend for the SAME $39.99 (single) this place is going down as one of my favorites, I will surely stop back if needed for a night when going cross country, it simply can not be beat!
