“A bit of luxury and great for a quiet getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2011

Stayed here for 5 nights as part of a 3 trip cross France family trip. The hotel is a small family run affair with the owners on site and is set on its own with no passing traffic.
We had one of the two "Romantic" rooms situated in the main building. This comfortably held the 3 of us (one teenager) and all our gear. The hotel has a reasonable size pool (although not heated) with a great view over the hills.
There is also lots to do within 30 minutes including Sarlat, Les Eyzies, the river Dodogne, cave paintings, castles and gardens.
We had a meal on our first night which cosisted of a set meal that was met with mixed responses, although the dessert was the best of our whole holiday.
The only downsize is it comes at a cost and the owners have a policy of no eating in the room or own picnic on the property.

“Not a people or dog-friendly place”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2011

I booked this so-called hotel, because it supposedly accepts pets. Its entry in the Relais du Silence Guide DOES NOT say that pets are excluded from the restaurant. When I enquired, I specifically stressed that it was very important to us that the dogs be allowed in the restaurant. The reply stated that small and medium sized dogs were allowed in. On the basis of all this information, I subsequently made a reservation. HOWEVER... when I took my dogs in to breakfast on the first morning, the owner said that they were not allowed in. I referred to the fact that I had checked with him before booking and been told that they were accepted. He then made a feeble excuse about the lack of space in the room. (At the side of my table there was approximately 36 sq feet of room, part of which was a recess next to a huge fireplace!) He was extremely rude and said "I have told you!" then walked off. He didn't speak to us for 3 days.
The hotel information in the room is basically a load of rules and regulations including a statement that the electricity should not be used for personal items. Hard luck if you have an electric toothbrush, shaver or straighteners! This place is, I think the most unwelcoming accommodation I have ever stayed in and we spent as little time as possible there. I shall certainly never return. This is all the more sad as it is a memebr of the Club Hotelier du Pays de Sarlat whose charter inlcudes the 2 following statements :
"... to make you feel at home" " ...to guarantee...quality for money." HA HA

We are surprised at your review of our hotel which is the result of a misunderstanding that should have been resolved during your stay and not a few weeks later after your departure. We must, therefore, answer to your critics which are not justified.

Indeed, we accept and welcome well educated dogs at our establishment.
However we have some restrictions during the high season. Indeed, when our dining room is full, we ask the owner of the dogs to leave their pets outside. This restriction obviously is removed when we serve breakfast outside.

In addition, during your stay, we received also a family with one of their children had a great fear of dogs. You understand that we tried to satisfy as many of our residents.

We are always available to customers to answer their questions (technical problem, regulation of the hotel, visiting tourist sites, for example). It would have been better to let us know during your stay at the hotel, your lack of understanding on the use of personal electrical equipment (toothbrushes, razors ...). We would have been able to respond to your request.
We mention, in fact, in the welcome booklet, as security that customers should not connect their heater or coffee maker, which is quite different from your interpretation on the use of an electric toothbrush.

We have warmly welcomed you every morning, even if we don’t speak english as fluently as you and we remained at your disposal for all your needs. We do not understand your comment about our failure to communicate to you.

We are sorry that you had that feeling during your stay. We always try to satisfy at best the needs of our residents. Overall, we have had excellent feedback. We can see through the sheets of assessments of your guests, or on the opinions on TRIPADVISOR or on other sites

At the Hotel de la Ferme Lamy, we are concerned about the well-being of our residents. We try to make up their stay as pleasant as possible and thus enable them to discover the Perigord Noir in good conditions.

Sorry if this target was not reached to you and we wish you in your next vacation a very pleasant stay in a Relais du Silence hotel.

Very respectfully.

“Our home in Dordogne”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2011

My wife and I just spent five nights her and loved it. Michel and Josiane were warm and welcoming hosts. She is a fabulous cook. He is gracious and speaks fine English, which is helpful. He was very knowledgeable about the local tourist sites and had good recommendations. Booked us a hot air ballon ride for our first morning. When the WiFi wasn't working on our first day, Michel went to great effort to correct the problem and had it sorted it out by the time we arrived back at day's end. Food and lodging were great. This is the perfect spot if you have come to explore the numerous pre-historic caves in the region and want a quiet place to return to and wake up in each day. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

“Very nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2010

This was the 2nd hotel of our tandem cycle tour of the Dordogne. After cycling from Montignac, Lascaux (26 hilly miles) on a damp misty day we eventually arrived at Hotel de la Ferme Lamy. This is a very rural location and were pleased to arrive after many climbs and decents. Although not the most ideal day we took advantage of the pool although no sun bathing today. The room and bathroom were excellent. Dinner was served by the hosts. Quality of dinner and breakfast were excellent.

“Quaint, lovely and quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2009

After having been in noisy Paris for a week it was a joy to stay at Ferme Lamy. It is a beautiful spot and absolutely quiet. The new hosts were very warm and accomodating. I was thrilled to finally have a washcloth and the mezzanine worked well for our daughter. My only wish was that they could have served us dinner.
