“Very nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2010

This was the 2nd hotel of our tandem cycle tour of the Dordogne. After cycling from Montignac, Lascaux (26 hilly miles) on a damp misty day we eventually arrived at Hotel de la Ferme Lamy. This is a very rural location and were pleased to arrive after many climbs and decents. Although not the most ideal day we took advantage of the pool although no sun bathing today. The room and bathroom were excellent. Dinner was served by the hosts. Quality of dinner and breakfast were excellent.

“Quaint, lovely and quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2009

After having been in noisy Paris for a week it was a joy to stay at Ferme Lamy. It is a beautiful spot and absolutely quiet. The new hosts were very warm and accomodating. I was thrilled to finally have a washcloth and the mezzanine worked well for our daughter. My only wish was that they could have served us dinner.

“Great location, needs some updating”

I booked this place for my husband's 40th 6 month's in advance, based on the website photos and the reviews here. A week before the date we found out the hotel had exchanged hands to new owners which was a bit worrying.

Upon arrival I was a little disappointed by the look of the place as it was a little tired (mainly the reception and breakfast area) and not as nice as on the website photos. The rooms however were nice and charming specially those with mezzanine level but showers need updating. The location and setting was superb and great for exploring the region which has a lot to offer such as canoeing down the beautiful dordogne.

The new owners were very pleasant and although new to the game were very welcoming, warm and tried their best to make our stay special. One of the nights we ate (they only cook for groups or special occasions) and despite them not being from the region they made the regional dishes very well and the meal was overall very good and good value. We all enjoyed our stay and left happy and looked after.

The other night we ate at a local restaurant in the middle of nowhere La Maiterie 5 mins drive which served top class cuisine served in traditional surroundings, fantastic food at great prices.

As it is, due to the slightly tired look i would give this place a 3.5. With very little updating it would get a 4 but for now i have to give it a 3 as can't choose 3.5!

“Very nice!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 April 2009

We spent four nights at Ferme Lamy during Easter holidays, with our thirteen year old daugther. Our room with mezzanine was very clean, located close to the small road in front of the Ferme. No disturbance since this very narrow road is only used by limited number of locals. We were very nicely welcomed by the hosts and all along our stay, they were so kind in telling us so many advices and tips for dining, visiting, etc. Breakfast was simple, with fresh orange juice and good freshly brewed coffee (yes, they can!), some home-made jams and bread, but so much better than what you can get in many other places. Everything was good to start the day and explore the area. Too bad they did not have wifi (somewhat vital with teenagers nowadays :) but flat screen TV was good and we also had brought some DVDs for our laptop. The location of the Ferme was perfect, a little isolated but not too far from many places to visit and from (nice) Sarlat where you can go to all kinds of restaurants (beware of the small road curves after a large meal with foie gras and good wine!). All in all a good place to stay, and that should be even better if you can get to the pool in summer (was still sadly too cold during our stay).

“Peaceful, Lovely Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2008

My girlfriend and I stayed here for three nights in September just after we got engaged. We couldn't have arrived in a nicer place after the busy city of beautiful Paris. The drive down took us about six hours (we took it easy and made a few stops along the way. You might drive here quicker than us).
Our room was very nice. The door opened up to a beautiful landscape view, which could easily have been one of the highlights if there weren't so many other great characteristics about this hotel. Although it did feel more like staying in an apartment as it did a hotel. Not to say that this was a bad thing. Lovely room!
We had homemade bread, jam and coffee for breakfast each morning, which was served up to us by the very friendly owner, Michelle. He was a fantastic help to us with everything. From booking restaurants, to suggesting cool places to visit.
Very clean and well kept gardens led down to the pool. We had the whole pool side to ourselves one of the days. Totally relaxing and chilled out! It was great!
I have difficulty walking sometimes, so I chose this hotel because our room was on ground level. It was ideal for me, but if you use a wheelchair, you might have difficulty with the shower as there was a step into it. I'm not sure if all the rooms have this step into the shower. There were two steps down to the pool area aswell. Apart from this, it was quite accessible. If you are a disabled traveler, it might be something to check with Michelle first though. If you can work around these few things, you'll enjoy your stay here.
Overall, great place, and I'll be recomending it to my friends. Quite rural, but that was perfect for us!
