Thanks for all of the negative reviews that do not make Stone Gate number one! It assures me and my friends vacancy! At least that is what I am hoping for next year!

My girlfriends and I attempted to stay here two years ago to no avail. We all fell in love with the little check-in "cabin" and all of it's charm. The very sweet owner directed us to another lovely place up the road. We enjoyed our stay at the other cabins, but I was yearning to go back to Stone Gate for two years. I got my wish last week... I was not disappointed!

My son and I enjoyed a last Summer "hurrah" at S.G. It was everything I hoped it would be. We stayed in the magnificent cabin number 5. I love love love that it was so clean (I just got back from India, I don't care about looks, but I care about clean)! I had NO PROBLEM what so ever cleaning up after my son and I. It is a matter of respect in our family. It is obvious that the owners care and love their little piece of paradise. But, I am also the gal who also cleans the hotel room up before we leave! :)

Little dude and I enjoyed the fabulous sunset bonfire on the rocks, the glorious sunrise at exactly 6:22 AM, which my son headed back to bed right after witnessing. I had to drag him out of bed two hours later when he exclaimed, "This bed is too cozy and I don't want to get up!"

I don't always like to leave reviews. I guess it is mainly because everyone's experience will be so different and "stuff" happens. When I really love a place, I want to share the love!

We will be back!! Hopefully for a bit longer next time.

Room tip: Cabin 5 was brand spanking new!!!

I have stayed at Stonegate for many years and look forward to my annual summer visit all year. The cabins are very comfortable and the view is amazing. The few 'rules' are to insure the comfort of other guests and are much appreciated. As someone who returns annually from the East Coast, I hesitate to rave about it so much, for fear that it will be all booked up and I won't be able to get in. Highly recommended for a relaxing, quiet retreat from the bustle of everyday life.

This was our first time at Stonegate and we will back. We stayed in the lovely new log cabin. The bed and furnishings were so comfortable! Sunrises from the spacious loft bedroom were colorful and dramatic, and the view from the living area was equally stunning. The place was immaculately clean, the kitchen well-equipped and the grounds well-kept. The shoreline is the large rock-shelf type, and not for agate hunting, but Flood Bay is close enough that we didn't care. The caretakers were kind and helpful. They helped immensely with our requests for help and information, and were just delightful people. Not at all instrusive. The water is artesian, and made the best tea! We appreciated the attention to sustainability, including recycling, and the availability of cleaning rags instead of paper towels. Also appreciated that there aren't roads winding around the cabins, so you aren't seeing and hearing cars when you'd like to be looking at the lake. Cleaning up after yourself is part of staying at housekeeping cabins, and is just common courtesy wherever you stay. I suppose they could add maid service, but then they'd have to raise the price and these wouldn't be the amazing value that they are.

Room tip: Ask if there is a direct lake view. Pictures of some cabins are on the website, but the log cabin picture was taken before the wrap-around deck was added.

Owner was very intrusive. We found it hard to relax due to all the rules. You must remove your shoes, clean your cabin and empty your garbage before you leave. The cabins are so clean it made us nervous. There are special spill rags. We were afraid to relax for fear something may get accidentally spilled. Owner sells firewood, tells you to make sure you have the fire on the rocks on the beach and then comes to tell you to put it out because of the smoke. Overall not family or kid friendly.
