This was our fourth trip to Saxe Coburg lodge and we would highly recommend it, especially the garden rooms which are secluded and peaceful. The night sky is amazing, we've never seen so many stars. All the rooms are very comfortable and extremely clean. The hosts, Dick and Regina are most helpful without being imposing. There are several excellent restaurants in this small hamlet, all within easy walking distance. We can't wait to return!

This is a great guesthouse in the small town of Prince Albert, just by the mighty Swartberg Pass.

We arrived late in the day after driving up Route 62 and were given a warm welcome. The decanter of sherry in the huge room was particularly appreciated! The breakfast next morning was first class and plentiful.

Prince Albert is a great little town, with a range of eateries to enjoy and galleries to browse. We ate a venue that combined both, the Gallery, which is just up from the Saxe Coburg. Food, wine and service were superb.

I'd thoroughly recommend stopping at the Saxe Coburg if you are on a road trip through the area, and it would also be a great place to stay longer if you wanted to get away from it all.

regina and dick run a hands on gem of a place. it is maintained to immaculate standards. nothng is overlooked. there is a cruet of local port and some tidbit cookies to welcome you, too. the breakfasts were all one could ask for and again everything is of the highest quality. the "lodge" is a living museum of karoo life. the grounds are manicured with flowers in profusion. chippy is the welcoming collie who reigns over it all. i was so happy that i found this place. you can walk to everything in prinz albert right from there. regina and dick had great suggestions for what to do and buy.

We had such a lovely 2 night stay at Saxe-Coburg Lodge in December 2009. (our second visit there) It's very homely, relaxing and tranquil that we find ourselves wondering just when we'll be able to get some time off to visit again. Dick and Regina are both warm and welcoming and treat their guests as friends. We've hired the cottage twice and once also made use of the optional interleading "honeymoon suite" when we travelled with a larger family. The spacious rooms are very tastefully decorated and the bed linen crisp, white and inviting. The breakfasts are sumptously mouthwatering -from fruit salad made from their freshly grown fruit to eggs, bacon, sausage, (the works)...In fact I have recommended Saxe-Coburg to so many people I've come into contact with and the whole holiday experience, from the drive to Prince Albert via Meiringspoort (do stop to do the waterfall walk), to overnighting at this wonderful B&B. May the new guests who visit Saxe-Coburg Lodge leave with happy memories such as the ones we treasure.
