“Good location in Seminyak”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Overall a nice place, a little bit old, but well enough maintained. Spacious.

This is unrelated to the hotel itself, but an ant crawled into my partner's ear and bit her inner ear. This traumatized her, but she didn't hold it against the hotel as there were ants in just about every hotel we stayed at in Bali.

It's not far from the beach or the main parts of Seminyak, and the staff was generally friendly.

The food was edible, not amazing but acceptable.

There was a cat that hung out around the porch of our room, which didn't bother us.

Also the tropical creatures of the night can be heard, many of which probably live in the pond next to the restaurant (frogs).

“Great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

First of all, great location! Just a short walk to Seminyak Beach and Ku De Ta. The hotel's restaurant was very accomodating to special requests and the supper menu is delicious.

However, on the day we were due to check out, there wasnt anyone manning the reception. So we waited 15minutes before someone appeared. Also, as it was raining heavily that day, none of the hotel staff offered us an umbrella when we wanted to go back to our hotel room to lockup/pick up our luggage. Instead, staff used the umbrellas for themselves while we were left to walk in the rain. I was shocked at this lapse in service as the other staff have been very friendly and accomodating throughout my stay.

“Goodbye & Good Luck”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Just returned to Au after another amazing 2 weeks at Seminyak Suites. Nothing has changed since last year (we have been a few times in the last 13 months), 20 room hotel, approx. 20yrs. old, two storey, semi-detached suites each overlooking the swimming pool.
Quiet, friendly, clean, good value for money and excellent position - Seminyak! Entry next to Oberoi and a couple of minutes by taxi down a small one way road or 5 - 7 minute walk to top end shopping and many popular places to eat.
However, this will be our last visit with Ian, Lambang and Casey in attendance. Goodbye guys and hope your new venture in Flores (neighbouring island to east - 50min flight), will be even more of a success when your small hotel is completed later this year.
Because we have enjoyed Bali and your last venture so much we will join you when you're up and running. No, we probably won't be trekking through forests to find waterfalls or horseriding around huge lakes, certainly not going to see komodo dragons feeding on live whatever, but we love relaxing, fishing in pristine waters, driving around to see the sights and not having to fight with heaps of other tourists for footpath room. We will add a week or so on Flores to our next Bali trip later this year just to see what this is all about. We've heard the deals will be just as good! Good luck and prosper, thanks again for all your help and hospitality. Cheers, a family of Aussie fans.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms larger verandah but stairs rather steep, downstairs roomier inside. All rooms great v...

Hi guys and thanks for the great review here. It has been a pleasure seeing you so many times since November 2012 and it's been great spending those times together. This is our last day at Seminyak Suites Resort and tomorrow we start putting 100% effort in to getting our new boutique resort up and running Labuan Bajo Hill Retreat, Labuan Bajo, Flores, Eastern Indonesia. We look forward to your many future stays with us, even though we know it is so different from Seminyak, Bali. We would like to thank both of you and all our other guests and friends that have supported us over the last three years. Bye Bye to you all for now and we look forward to greeting you in Flores. Kind Regards, Ian, Lambang & Cassey.

“Nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

The resort is a nice place nestled behind the sprawling old Oberio Hotel, which blocks it direct access to the beach. Access to the beach is via a lane and through Ku De Ta. Personally I like being really close to the Seminyak/Kuta beach as some of the sunsets are really glorious. The is a nice 15 min back alley walk to the many excellent restaurants (Trattoria, Kuni, Mykronos) along Laksmana. The rooms are nice and well renovated. The normal rooms have nice wide spacious toilets, the family room have small toilets but located at the quieter end of the resort. The breakfast is good and sumptious. There is an inhouse tour operator (Rocky and Nyoman) which we used extensively (diving, white-water, day tours) and the service is good and reliable with discounts negotiable. There is an excellent hotel manager but I think he is moving on to Komodo Island. The resort is well maintained. We suffered a one-hour blackout (water also cut) on one day, which is about the single main negative experience here. Otherwise it is a nice place.

Thank you for your review of Seminyak Suites Resort. We are so happy that you and your family enjoyed your stay with us earlier this month. As mentioned by many our location is attractive to our guests, actually very central but tucked away down a small lane so you still get peace and quiet. We are also glad you enjoyed the breakfast options and I will pass your comments on to our restaurant staff. I will pass on your positive comments to Rocky and Nyoman about their tour/travel service. I've never had a complaint yet about the service they offer. In regards to the power blackout it hit a large part of Bali, unfortunately we had a slight problem starting our generator at that time. Thankfully it is in good working order now, but we still apologize for that mishap. Finally in regards to myself thank you for such a nice statement. It is true that me and my partner will be leaving Seminyak Suites Resort on January 31, 2012. We are moving on to our new project in Labuan Bajo, Flores Island stepping stone to the Komodo National Park amongst other things. Please look out for our new resort Labuan Bajo Hill Retreat opening late May 2012. Once again thank you for your review, IAN.

“Nice grounds, needs some work”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

We stayed here for a night as it looked close to the beach on google maps and for the price you definitely couldn't beat it. On arriving at the property you couldn't actually find it was the signage was not obvious from the way our driver drove in. However we asked someone and got pointed in the right direction.

You can tell the place is old and worn but the staff who greeted us were friendly and accommodating. It has a nice feel as there are only 16 rooms and the gardens are lush so you don't feel like you are in a chain hotel. The room we had a decent size but again its old and nothing special. The bathroom had been renovated I think but the standard of cleaning was average. All the fittings were covered in lime scale and rusted and the towels looked like they had seen better days. Things like the bag in the rubbish bin hadn't been changed just the rubbish taken out of it. If they were able to tidy up the fittings and give a proper detail the bathroom is actually quite nice and had so much natural night you feel like you are outdoors Its those little things you start to notice that made things start to go downhill.

The worst thing though was the state of the sheets. Already there were grey but felt greasy so my boyfriend said to pull them back and have a look at them before getting in. There were hairs and a few other marks that upon touching were not permanent stains, just dirty sheets. I went and asked for an extra set which I changed myself.

Over the location is good and the price really good for the area. The include breakfast is the best I have had at any hotel and exceedd my expectations. Overall if they were to give everything a makeover, get some crisp linens and update the TV's in the rooms etc it would be a really good set up. I don't want to sound negative but the place has a lot of potential.

Dear guest thank you for taking the time to write this review and giving your feedback to us. As I've mentioned before the hotel is old but we have spent considerable time and money in renovating over the last two and a half years to keep it up to this standard. All the Superior and Deluxe bedrooms were repainted and all their bathrooms had a heavy duty sander to grind the Balinese stone down to clean them up. We are glad that you enjoyed our garden as we have spent a lot of time over the last 2 years to make it what it is.

All the TVs are 21" and are in good working order and we could upgrade the bathrooms with new fittings but they do work perfectly well. In regards to the linen all new guests have clean sheets when they check-in and if so needed can have fresh ones every day if the sign is placed on the bed for a change of linen. In regards to them being old more than half are 1 year old or less. Still as I have said before the heavy chemicals used by Industrial cleaners here does tend to take the sheen of them pretty quickly.

It must also be mentioned that by upgrading the facilities as you suggest it would add another USD40 to the room rates and we have tried so hard to keep our rates competitive in a sea of expanding and expensive hotels and villas in the Seminyak area. In fact the rates we offer from USD65 for our cheapest room in low season up to USD120 for our most expensive room in the peak season are one of the cheapest in Seminyak. Also when you consider we offer free airport transfers for stays of 5 nights or longer, welcome drink, daily breakfast and afternoon tea all inclusive in the rate for our guests this is extremely good value for money.

In regards to our breakfasts thank you for appreciating what we offer our guests we do try to give our guests a good start to their holiday days.

On a sad note myself and my partner will be leaving Seminyak Suites Resort 31 January, 2012 to pursue our new venture Labuan Bajo Hill Retreat, Labuan Bajo, Flores, Eastern Indonesia but hopefully many of our regular and old guests will join us there.

Once again thank you for your constructive feedback on Seminyak Suites Resort
