“Pleasantly Surprised”

We booked Maca Villas through Agoda and after checking the reviews on Trip Advisor....you always wonder what you will find when you arrive.

We took a prepaid taxi from the airport for 70K RP. From the moment the taxi pulled up in front of Maca Villas we knew that we had picked our accommodation well. A handy tip to help the taxi locate Maca is to say near Villa Lumbung (it is across the road).

All the staff from those in reception, to the butlers, those in the restaurant, and even the gardeners always greeted us with a smile......no request was too much trouble for them to accommodate. Many of them spoke excellent English which is a credit to them in a country where English is not the main language.

We had a pool villa No. 21, near the rear of the complex. The paths to the Villas are surrounded by lush, perfectly manicured gardens, with ponds filled with fish along the way. When we were shown to our Villa, I realised that it looked exactly like the photos on the website. Each Villa is it's own private oasis, surrounded by high walls. You walk through the main gate into the courtyard area with the daybed, pool and fountain. The gentle noise of the water running down the rock wall fountain was very soothing. The water in the pool was clean & very inviting. When the main gate was shut you are away from the rest of the resort and guests....it was so peaceful.

The Villa had a combined kitchenette, dining and lounge area with floor to ceiling doors that fully opened up to make it an indoor/outdoor area. There is a sink with a bar sized fridge along with tea and coffee making facilities.

Just after we arrived in our Villa we were greeted with a delicious mocktail similar to a Mojito...so cool and refreshing....a great touch! The butler showed us through the Villa and pointed out how to use the various pieces of equipment such as TV, aircon, fans etc.

The bedroom has a very comfortable king sized bed and flat screen TV. The floor to ceiling doors that open right up, allow you to get straight into the pool from the bedroom. The curtains were full block out making sleeping in easy! There was no where really to put your suitcases apart from on the floor, but that was a minor inconvenience. There is plenty of drawers and hanging place for clothing.

The bathroom is huge with great quality toiletry supplies, which were replenished daily when used. There were plenty of towels but my partner thought that slightly larger towels would have been nicer.

The Bose i Pod docking station in the lounge area is a nice touch, although it is a bit difficult to hear the music in the bedroom area without having the volume cranked right up.

The reverse cycle aircons and ceiling fans in the bedroom and lounge areas were very effective at cooling both areas.

There was always an abundant supply of bottled water that was replenished each time the Villa was serviced (at least twice a day).

Breakfast was amazing....we had a choice of eating in the restaurant or our Villa. There was plenty of choices e.g. fresh juices, fresh fruit, yoghurt, eggs cooked any way you like, pancakes, toast, croissants, french toast etc along with plunger coffee, tea or hot chocolate. There were also Asian style choices. As I previously mentioned, the staff in the restaurant at breakfast time were great. They were courteous, helpful & willing to make changes to standard items on the menu. There all made the effort to chat with us in English - which we certainly admired and appreciated.

The shuttle was more flexible than three times a day. The car was modern with air conditioning and seat belts. We were able to be dropped mostly anywhere in the local area.....such as Bintang Supermarket and Potato Head.

There were two large umbrellas in the Villa as well as plenty at reception which was handy for any rain showers (we were there in the wet season).

The Villas are located in easy walking distance of plenty of restaurants such as Sarong (about 10mins) or Potato Head (about 15 mins). Of course there are plenty of taxis or other transport around if you don't want to walk. The Villa had a torch, but we bought our own from home which was handy as the road approaching Maca Villas is poorly lit with plenty of pot holes....but was easy to navigate with a torch.

We loved our stay at Maca Villas and would be more than happy to stay there again or recommend it to our family & friends.

“Pretty good but could be better for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2012

We stayed there with a group of 10families that came from Turkey. Overall the expeience was good, but... The managers kept harassing us for the payment at breakfast. That was very unpleasant and quite unnecessary. Because we were going to stay 5 days and have already paid 90% of the balance. Other then that, very nice villas spacious and clean. Loved the closet with plenty of shelves to place clothes. Would expect an iron in every villa. I am sure they would bring it on request, but would be nicer to have it at hand. The stuff is very helpful (besides the managers). Always smiling and greeting you every time they see you. Even the gardeners and maintenance. The restraunt at the villas did not have big variety for breakfast. Would recommend to expand selection. And service was very slow. May be they were not used to serving 20-30 people at the same time, but still how long does it take to make scrambled eggs? We had to wait 45 minutes for them. Was not untill we got mad that they finally managed to serve us quicker ( last 2 days).
So they have to work some issues out before they can host a big group of tourists i guess.

“Looks just like the photos on internet”

First I would personally like to thank the General Manager Thomas Walter for his personal service while at the villa.

We spent 7 nights for our 25th Wedding Anniversary and my husband did not want to leave the room, it was so beautiful. Not very often do you find that you walk into a place and it looks just like in the photo.

Everytime we walked to our villa it was like taking a walk through a tropical garden. Every detail has been paid to both interior and landscape design.

While the villas are not situated in the heart of Seminyak the taxis are so cheap $2-$3 that it's not worth mentioning. Also Thomas had the driver drop us off free of charge on a couple of occasions to the restaurants.

I do feel that the food is a little bit on the expensive side (but definately worth it) and after spending 2 weeks in Bali we realised that whever we went you would pay for quality.
I would recommend this villa for Honeymooners, Romantic getaways.
Already looking forward to our next stay.

Tip: if you love italian food go to Sasa' Ristorante italiano and Metis for a romantic dinner.

Room Tip: villa 25 or villa 22 for double rooms

“Private, cozy, awesomee”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

I stayed here for 2 nights in jan, and i would like to say thx to Mr. Adhi komang and front desk staff Mrs. Sugi for everything that their help when i stayed there

First, the room
is spacious and very clean..
At night there are no mosquito in the outer room, so you could enjoy the star at nite with ur friends
They got 2 lcd tv, 1 is in the bedroom, the other is in bathroom, ipod dock, slippers, bathrobe, amenities, technically everthing u need while stayed there..

Second, the pool
If u not in the beach mood, u could just stay in ur villa, enjoy the pool, or relax in the bale enjoying the sun

Third, the food
The only food that i tried while i was there is breakfast..
There's a lot of choices for u to pick, and u could ask them to deliver it to your villa at the morning.. 1 thing u should try is their signature ippolito's coffee.. Awesomee!!!

It would be nice if u guys put 1 lcd tv in the living room,
Coz if people want to hav fun with their friends while watching tv, you don't invite them to ur bedroom right? Haha..

Would i be back again? Definitelyyy...!!!

“Just wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

Stayed at Maca with my husband for 4 nights and it was just not enough! I could not part with our amazing pool villa.

The cleanliness of the room, amenities, ipod dock, especially and especially the impeccable service and attention to detail of the butlers and staff! Always smiling and pleasantly greeting you everytime you walk by. Extremely warm hospitality :))

The sound of the waterfall in our pool at night as we crept into our crisp newly made bed after a long day or shopping was just heavenly!

The food was delicious and we loved the little serving of dessert waiting for us on the dining table when we got back to our room.

The gardens were so perfectly maintained and the cocktails by the pool with its own waterfalls and garden setting was so serene.

If we go to Bali again, Maca Villa will most definately be our accomodation for the trip!
