“WOW - Stayed here on my honeymoon”

My first review ever and this is simply because this place deserved it

It all started when i left my phone in the taxi when i arrived. As soon as i mentioned it to reception they were on the case trying to chase it down, and they did. i had my phone the next morning!

Now onto the villa, all i can say is that it was different class. Clean, massive and beautiful. I must have looked for weeks/months for where to stay in Seminyek and i am so so glad we picked here.

Breakfast evey morning brought to our villa was amazing - My wife and i loved the pinapple pancakes. There is a great choice and if you are a bit of a pig like me there are no issues of tickicng every single box if you wanted

The free shuttle service is a great addition and they are always at hand. Great advice on where to go and what we also loved is that this place is quite small so it was very personal. It seems that all the staff are briefed on who is who as everyone knew our names and always said hello Mr X and Mrs Y.

Anyways if you are like me and struggling to pick one of the millions of villas i would highly recommend this place as they couldnt do enough for you and the place is spotless! No noise, infact we hardly seen anyone as they must have been just relaxing by their private pool. It is perfect for total relaxation and the Spa is amazing - my wife was never out of it!

Room Tip: go for the pool villa!

My wife & I just returned from a most pleasant 9 night stay .it was an absolute bargain at the online price through villas Indonesia at $799 AUD FOR 7 nights .the staff were all great .we handed the FOH staff a list of desired places to eat upon arrival .They made all reservations & supplied transport nightly to each one.breakfast was alacarte,but you could have as much as you wanted.included was daily afternoon tea& a free couples massage .The staff would service the room at your desired time seamlessly.great for a relaxing break.Well located resort with heaps of options to eat nearby or at most a $1 cab ride away .top place!

Perfect for couples - very private and relaxing. Great location - close to all the famous seminyak bars & restaurants. Loved our plunge pool & private dinner in our own balinese hut. Free wifi was great! Breakfast was fantastic! We also enjoyed a 1hr massage at the spa. Negatives - Street noise if you are staying in one of the villas closest to the road, on Friday night very loud music kept us awake & the aircon in our room was not very cold.

“A Second Home Away from Home”

My favourite choice of Villas in Bali. The staff are courteous, helpful and true professionals. The warm smile on arrival always confirms my choice of accomodation. The rooms are clean and luxurious - from a frangipani prepared bath to the bed being prepared, it's always a pleasure to stay at The Kayana. The Duah Restaurant is equally pleasant, with both staff and food being exceptional. The Staff have become close friends and family. I know I'll always have a second home at The Kayana Villas.

“Far from 5 star, noisy, not clean and limited privacy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

We booked this hotel following reading several reviews and staying twice at the Samaya in Ubud which is a sister hotel.

Whilst my positive reviews tend to be short, we were very disappointed with our stay for a number of reasons. Some of the reasons may have been fine in isolation but when combined, they made our stay terrible.

Firstly, whilst we were told after being transported to our villa that we had a quiet villa, from 10pm, it sounded like we were on a highway. Motorbikes were revving, beeping and people were talking loudly. The right hand side villas are next to the W Hotel and must be right next to the staff parking area. at 11pm we rang the hotel to find out what was going on. Eventually they agreed to move us to another villa so we got to bed at 11.45. This villa was quiet and we asked why we were checked into a noisy villa when this one was available only to be told that the manager we were talking to didn't make the allocations. A little disappointing when we have referred a number of friends to the sister hotel.

The following morning, construction work started at another villa so there were loud hammering noises. We spoke to the manager and informed him it was not acceptable. Whilst he was apologetic, we told him that we would like to check out rather than spend the 2nd of our two night reservation at the Kayana. Eventually the hotel agreed to let us check out the following morning.

Other issues included:

- toilet was dirty when we checked in;
- 2nd villa's bathroom smelled;
- water was leaking through the wall of the room creating a puddle in the room - staff promplty came and fixed this when we advised them;
- staff would come into the villa unannounced via the private door. Any other villa we have stayed at, staff would ring the door bell so we would not have to worry about what we were doing or how we were dressed;
- our breakfast poached eggs tasted like they had been boiled only in vinegar and most of the vinegar had been poured on to our plates;
- a number of stains on the couch.

Overall definitely not what I expect from a 5 star villa and very disappointing. The Kayana has a lot to learn from the Samaya (we have only stayed at the Samaya in Ubud and can not speak positively enough of it. Unfortunately we were not able to book into the Samaya in Seminyak).

Room Tip: If you do book at this hotel, make sure you ask for a quiet room away from the W Hotel.
