I stayed in Hotel Swiss Swiss Chalet when I visited Angeles City on way to my visit to Mt.Pinatubo.
A good place to stay, though the rooms are smaller. Excellent location.
Good food. A perfect location for backpackers.

To begin with, I’m not into writing reviews until I find that I need some info about the places I’m going to meet by budget.
Not many review about Swiss Chalet unlike other Hotels which always been spoke and write about.
Swiss Chalet worth the money spends and I just stayed in the standard room. It is money saving and delivers what basic needs I would expect. I did stayed at other top rated hotels before this BUT the price keep on increasing.
Agreed some reviewer were mentioning the furniture is kind of run down. Well, it’s not run down but the concept is the olden crafting woods and bound to have scratches and peeling off. To me, it doesn’t bother a bit. Cockroaches’? If you keep left over in your room!
The room is spacious (remember it is a standard room), shower comes with warm water, air-con were very cold at times and need to fiddle the temp setting.
Room is clean, toilet was clean and sink were clean with just missing filter cover.
They provide extra pillow upon request and bed sheets are clean and neat.
Hospitality and customer service was great and the staff really friendly and attend to our needs immediately. The location just a stone throw away from “Field Avenue”. You get a good quiet sleep at night or even a nap at day time.
If one intends to stay around the Field Avenue and to SM Mall, don’t bother to take the trishaw, just walk and some exercise is good. We walk to the Mall all the time.
Perhaps future upgrading is to have a proper closest (currently shared with safe box and too little space). Secondly, have more clothes hangers .The room only provide 2 hangars.

Place to sleep with acceptable condition, Yes, it is Swiss Chalet!!

stayed for two nights in feb 2011 in superior room for 1580 peso.the rooms are clean, have tiles,the bed is very comfortable and the room was in general well maintained if you compare to other properties in the philippines.
The location is perfect,straight in the middle of everything.Staff is also very friendly.
Minibar prices are too high and also the food in the restaurant is too expensive,that is why i didnt eat there.
Wifi was free and very fast.
Showerpressure was a little weak.

This place is a bit difficult to find first time - take the left turn after hotel Amsterdam, and you will find a long bar and restaurant that seems to have popped out of the swiss alps. A small hotel (hardly 2 floors). But very happening. The restaurant is good, always filled with foreigners - mostly Europeans and Americans.

(Balibago has specific hotels that are favourites with Japanese, Koreans, Europeans... their menus and languages used at the entrance are an easy way to figure this out).

I had booked over the phone, which was a good thing as it was a long weekend and Swiss chalet was full when I arrived at Balibago. (PS - the "chalet" is a misnomer as these are just rooms - the rooms are not plush like some of the hotels here, but are comfortable, air con is good, and baths are clean) First of all, this is NOT Angeles city, but a small town 15 minutes jeepney ride from Angeles. To come from Manila, the best way is to take a air con bus (Bunny, etc - any major bus company. the buses are very comfortable, air con, and take about 3 hours along the highway). Just tell the conductor you wish to go to Balibago - he will tell you where to get off (it is the stop after SM Angeles). From there you can take a Jeepney (I always prefer this as it feels more homely and there are always a lot of peopel to talk to) or a taxi or a motorcab (Motorcycle with side car). Either ways, it takes about 15-20 minutes and they will deposit you to Fields avenuye - which is the spinal cord of Balibago.

Swiss chalet is better as it is close to the smaller bars - away from the cash sapping main street ones. The staff is good and friendly. A motorcycle stand just outside the hotel is convenient (many tourists also hire a mobike for a day or two to drive themselves).

For food at odd times, there is an excellent sandwich and breakfast stall on fields avenue just 20 steps away - it serves breakfast 24 hours! (Yes - you heard that right!).

The time when Balibago is emptiest is usually morning - 7 am to 11 am. The place dons its most festive attire and is crowded from 10 pm at night upto 4 am int eh morning.
