My husband & I stayed at this property from 21 - 28 January 2012 over the Tet/Lunar New Year break.
It,s about a 10 - 15 minute drive from the airport to the hotel and there was a complimentary transfer service and we were offered bottled water and cold towels.
On arrival at the hotel we were directed to the bar area and were offered a welcome drink & refreshing towels whilst the paperwork was completed and then taken to our room.
We had booked a one bedroom villa directly via the hotels website in which the description had stated a four poster bed and so we were somewhat disappointed to find that we had been assigned a room with two single beds placed together, albeit with a double duvet especially as this had been booked in early October and at a rate of around USD331.00 per night.
Our rate did not include breakfast which was offered at an additional rate of USD15.00 per person.
Overall the room was pleasant with an indoor bathroom which we prefer instead of the outdoor type which is popular among many other Asian resorts.
There was a well stocked mini bar, television, tea & coffee making facilities, air conditioning, however a lack of accessible plug sockets.
We were in room 210.
Would suggest a mosquito coil for the room and balcony, we mentioned this and were given a can of spray.
During our stay we didn,t really see any sign of an evening turn down service which would have been nice to have a check of fresh towels and a re-stock of shampoo and amenities especially as in this environment numerous showers are typically taken a day.
Room service did deliver a small evening desert treat on a daily basis which was a nice touch and complimentary water was offered at the pool and beach.
The reception staff did offer us a complimentary move to a suite for the duration of our stay in order to accommodate our request for a four poster bed, however upon seeing the room we elected to stay were we were as the other option was close to the side wall and the hotel currently under construction next door, and we preferred the location and outlook from our room which was close to the pool, central and amongst the gardens.
I would recommend that the hotel improves its website as we tried multiple times to view the photo gallery without success, and there are very few photographs of the different type of rooms and the descriptions between villas and suites are very unspecific.
There appeared to be only three rooms that had a direct beach view and I feel that a map of the layout of the property would also be useful on the website and enable people to make a more informed decision about their specific requirements.
If I were to return I would carefully reconfirm my reservation and check the exact location of the room that we would be assigned as its a fact that the hotel currently under construction is rather unsightly and very close to the La Veranda property. Although the hotel have made an effort to disguise the building with what looked like palm fronds and the main shell of the property has been completed, there is alot of land that still needs to be cleared and all of the internal decor and construction to be finished.
During our stay we were not bothered by any noise presumably as work had ceased due to the Tet holidays.
Despite also being handed flyers frequently advertising live music next door at Amigo,s we were not affected by that either.
The hotel have live music each night around the bar area which seemed to begin around 6.30pm and finish by 10.30pm.
We did not eat at the hotel as there are several other local options either at the beach or just outside of the property and the hotel also operates a complimentary bus service into town should you wish to eat at the night market and a return taxi is less than VND 50,000.
Some of the prices in the upstairs restaurant did seem somewhat expensive to us but we live in Vietnam and so perhaps have a slightly unrealistic expectation but the setting is beautiful if you are looking for that type of dining and ambiance.
The prices and selection offered around the garden area, I thought were fine and not unreasonable for the type of hotel - pizza, sandwiches and similar.
There is a spa located on the property but I cannot comment on this as we did not use it.
The hotel offers complimentary bicycles which we did use and they were in perfectly good condition.
The staff were pleasant and helpful in answering any questions and the pool and beach staff were excellent and there were ample sun loungers and towels in both locations.
The hotel is on a small plot and not isolated as other properties are along the same stretch of beach, but it is a very nice setting constructed in a colonial style with beautiful landscaping.
We very much enjoyed our stay here despite the fact that I feel our nightly rate was high and I had a slightly higher expectations of the room, but perhaps this reflected it being the Tet holiday period?
