We visited Waterbuck Lodge for 4 nights on the first leg of our honeymoon. We were greeted to the lodge by Gareth & Taryn and offered a refreshing drink. Our lodge (no 4) was spacious, had a huge comfortable bed and a deck which overlooked the water hole which was frequented by, Nyala, Impala, Wildebeest and Cape Buffalo as well as several wading birds and Vervet monkeys.
From the very first meal, 'high tea' at 3.30pm, we knew we would not be going hungry during our stay. The food, whether it be breakfast, high tea or evening meal, was always freshly prepared, plentiful and delicious. Dining on the outside decking for breakfast and by fireside at the outdoor Boma (bonfire) was a wonderful enhancement to our whole bush experience. During our first game drive with Gareth as ranger and Loderick as tracker, we were treated to sightings of Giraffe, a mother White Rhino and her youngster, zebra, several species of antelope and finally, the highlight, a pride of six lions with a fresh zebra kill. Wow!! We were greeted back to the lodge with a smiling Taryn, a roaring fire and a very welcome glass of port ☺ Subsequent game drives brought us sightings of elephants, warthogs, hippo, crocodiles, a huge array of bird life, hyena and the elusive leopard! The whole experience from start to finish was one which was friendly, exciting, informative and totally professional. All of the staff were a credit to themselves and made this a most wonderful experience with which to remember the start of our married life! Thank you to each and every one of you. Martin & Fiona
