The room was very good; the restaurant poor. Food cold, chipped and cracked cups and glasses being used. People using soup bowls because cups had run out. Drinks machine was not checked regularly and ran out quite frequently. The men's toilets, one had no handle, one no lock the other no paper. The bar by the pool was understaffed, hence queues. Hotel seemed to cater more for other nationalities than the English. Hardly anyone could speak English and the announcements very rarely given in English. People we spoke to said the hotel had gone downhill in the last two years. We would not return to this hotel and would not recommend anyone else to stay there. We were disappointed bearing in mind the star rating of this hotel.

Room tip: Any with disabilities should have a room near the main building. Many steps.

Myself and my family were extremely impressed with this hotel. Good rooms, comfortable beds, large shower, excellent food, and everywhere very clean.

Many people go and don't leave the hotel, but this is such a waste of a holiday. We did at least 5 trips; sailing, exploring the island, traditional restaurant, turtle watching. Well worth it and a lot of fun. The only trip we didn't enjoy was going into Boa Vista town. The Somalians in the village are prolific and do not leave you alone, I found it threatening, and they don't go away when you say 'no'.

The hotel could do with tweaking a couple of things, like setting up smoking zones so none smokers don't get a face full of smoke when they are trying to enjoy their evening.

People who arnt so good on their legs will find the walk to the beach difficult, it's down hill and cobbled some of the way, but the hotel and both pools are nice enough not to leave. The sea can be treacherous and you should not expect to be able to swim in it every day.

Great nightly performances by staff. Overall a really enjoyable experience, worth seeing the island before it's destroyed by many more hotels!

Although there had been a hurricane four days before i arrived i feel the management of the hotel did not react fast enough to the demands of us pasty europeans in providing more shade ie temporary sunshades or umbrellas.
The largest group of people in the hotel were the french and courtousy of their travel group and the designated LOOK , E. TEAM there was a lot of noise around the main pool..
Because of the lack of sun shade there was a rush for sun beds in the mornings i had to get up around 5.45 each day to precure my spot ,
i have problems walking so i couldnt wait around all day for this facility.
On the plus side the nightly shows were good as with the food and of course the setting which was hard to fault.
I dont think the hotel can be called 4 star , i have been in better 3 star hotels.
A great deal of work needs to be done at this hotel i feel , This is really the first time i have had cause to critique a hotel in my whole travelling life but if you want more british and german customers i think you need to step up.

Room tip: A room away from the noise of the pool area or ampitheatre

The hotel had obviously been damaged by Hurricane Fred a week before we got there- there was a lot of damaged sunshades around the pool, some of them were 'shadeless'-the same on the beach. The weather was very hot when we were there, so as you can imagine- there was a 'scrum' for the most undamaged sunshades in the morning-even at 6.30am! The hotel staff didn't do anything to try to rectify the sunshade problem so guests resorted to taking sheets out of their rooms to try to secure on top of the damaged sunshades to get some shade at least. What didn't help was when some people put their towels on sun loungers under 'complete' sunshades at 6.30am then didn't return to them all day! Kids were burning in the heat. Food was ok- if you like last night's left overs served for breakfast- sprouts for breakfast anyone?? The staff were surly, rude and ignorant for most of the time. The Thomson rep was non-existent and it was supposed to be an all inclusive holiday but you had to buy bottled water after your first 'complimentary' 2 litre bottle. WiFi had to be paid for at 4euros for 30mins. No medical facilities on the island, no police on the island. Everyone who went out of the hotel complex on their own came back scared to death. Couldn't book excursions through the rep because the rep was non existent. No tv channels at all and had to queue up at the bar- with one person serving and the person in front ordering 4 coffees it wasn't fun- especially when there was a serve yourself coffee machine not 50 yards away from the bar. All in all it was 1970's Butlins in France, Italy,Russia,Netherlands, Germany but not UK- oh but did I mention- the weather was nice (if you managed to bag a sunshade)

Room tip: Go somewhere else for your holiday and well earned rest
