“Let the relaxing commence!”

The owners have a real gem here. We just returned from a long weekend at the guesthouse, six guys down to visit Cooperstown and get some much needed R&R. Everything went off without a hitch. It was so nice to have a place to just relax, rather than being cooped up in a hotel room. The views are excellent and it is located 15-20 minutes from downtown Cooperstown. The owners really have put a lot of thought into your stay, condiments in the fridge, a well stocked spice rack and even board games. Really, all we needed to do was show up with our stuff and some food and we were good. The owners went out of their way to ensure that our stay was a pleasant one, without giving you the feeling that you were being micromanaged. We had planned to do some fishing in the area, but the weather had other ideas and gave us an early taste of winter. I guess we'll just have to come back again. This venue isn't for those who prefer the cookie cutter hotel style rooms, but it is for those who want to have fond memories of their trip.

“Man-made peace surrounded by nature's peace.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2010

The house is comfortable, spacious, and filled with interesting art. While walking through the house I would catch myself looking at a new piece of art that I had not noticed before. The front deck/patio was a perfect spot to eat breakfast, lay out in the sun, do yoga, and watch nature. The nature trails behind the house are beautiful. I would go back in a heartbeat.

“Magical Setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2010

Our retreat at the guesthouse felt warm, inviting, and spacious. We were enveloped by nature, both indoors and out. Throughout the house there is plentiful woodwork, tiled and wooden floors, natural fabrics and other natural objects and artwork, all combining to create a serene space. The outdoor spaces included an open deck (perfect for viewing birds and the open sky and the towering hillsides), cascades of flowering plants, beautiful rock lined walkways, a gazebo, a barn, a Zen garden, and nature trails leading up into the woods (be sure to visit the waterfall and spend some time listening to it). Many birds were observed soaring, singing, and calling to each other. The owner’s outdoor cat, Tampico, came to visit us in the morning and evening and was as sweet as can be. I loved being here with my friends and loved ones.

“Eclectic, Inviting, and Comfortable Home in the Woods”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2009

We arrived during the gray and rainy weather of late November to find Comfort Woods warm and cozy with lots of cheerful Mexican tile, smooth wood floors, lots of good books, a full open kitchen for gourmet cooking and of course everything was spotless. The beds were comfortable and the view was peaceful. We didn't get to use the deck much which overlooked the rolling hillsides and wild apple trees, but we imagined it must be a perfect spot for a cup of coffee and just relaxing. If you are tired of the boring standardized hotel rooms, this place will charm you. Lots of rustic detail and room for just spreading out and enjoying the quality of life in the agricultural community close by. We were even welcomed with a couple of bottles of homemade beer!

“Columbus weekend of playoff baseball and changing leaves!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2009

We made a great choice with the Comfort Woods Guesthouse. The house is very well kept, and super comfortable. The whole house is interesting with the artwork, and the layout, and the tile and wood floors. You just feel comfortable hanging out in there. We came to spend most of our time in Cooperstown doing baseball related stuff, which we did, but we also explored the land around the house too. The mountain in the back has a nice trail which leads to waterfalls, and there are some really large rock formations and huge erratic boulders to marvel at. The changing leaves were pretty spectacular too. The owners of the house are really nice folks, and very accommodating and helpful with information and the like. It was a great getaway for us, and I'd recommend it to anyone.
