Sable Mountain Lodge is greatly situated over the hill in the middle of the green forest. When we were there (beginning of July) it was just in the end of the rainy season and everything around was very green and cool. We traveled to there by the train from Dar es Salaam and when we arrived it was late evening and all was dark, but in the next morning we were astonished by the beauty of the place we were land in. Selous is an amazing combination of small plateaus, savannas, green forests, small rivers and lakes. We did very nice safaris in next two days, organized by the lodge. We saw many beautiful views and big amount of mammals, predators and birds. The stay at the lodge was perfect organized. There are big banda tents with large bathrooms and large open veranda with view to the forest or to the valley. The bandas are very clean and nice, situated between the trees on distance each other and you feels like you are in some wonderful story, living alone in the forest. The bar and restaurant are over wooden platforms giving perfect view to the green forests and calm. The management and staff were very friendly guys and it was pleasure for us to meet them and to discuss how they live and enjoyed of their life. The food was cooked with style and was excellent. We can highly recommend Sable Mountain to everybody who searching for an active relaxing holiday and wish to combine impressive safari with calm rest under the leaves of the trees and sounds of the birds and monkeys. It is really unique to wake up in the morning and to look from your veranda over the forest to the vast valley, crossed only by straight rail line.

So exotic, so overgreen, so perfect;
Luckily enough we were only the three of us in the hotel ! Very spacious, clean, luminous et high quality lodges, very good food and exquisite people. Ask for the the lodge n°15 if it s possible : looming the soundfull bush : a unique experience. You can watch the sunrise early, over the jungle. There are no windws panel, but only mosquito nets, so youare in a constant relation and symbiosis with nature. How incredible !
You are utterly lost in the middle of the bush, you can only listen the sound of bushbabies around you, and the music of the jungle. Far from being a Robinson Crusoe's life, everything is prepared for you. There is an opened and source-watered pool waiting for you after your day trip of safari. Incredible. Geekos everywhere, so nice.
The people is very welcoming and give you excellent advices. Our tour guide spoke many langages and had a very acurate eye to see all the animal which we could have passed by. We stood 5 meters from 4 lions sleeping under a tree. I though i was about to pass away, bout no indeed. Same tremendous experience on a boat on a lake infested by crocodiles everywhere adn we had lunch on the boat in the middle of the lake, with hippopotamus around = unbeliveable.
The morning and the evening you have meals in a round open space restaurant in the bush again. Everything is in wood, or natural row material, which is good to preserve the atmosphere of jungle.

From our booking and correspondence with Tents with a view via email, to the minute we were taken to the airstrip to leave Selous, the entire team, the venue, the people, the images, have been amazing to say the least. Everyone is super professional, there were no delays, no hidden catches, no hiccups whatsoever. Only amazing people putting on their best smile in an incredible lodge surrounded by the bush and its mesmerizing sounds trying to give you the time of your life. That's what they did for us, I cannot thank them enough. To go into detail, we were picked up at Kisaki and had an amazing jeep ride in the bush (our jeeps headlights falling on the occasional Masai wondering in the bush) only to reach the incredible lodge! We were lucky enough to get the honeymoon suite! Our bed was looking into the bush, I will never forget the views when I woke up. That first night, I took a shower under the stars, looking at the full moon and hearing bush babies singing. The facility is very clean and safe, the food is excellent and the hospitality out of this world. I hope I'll be lucky enough to return some day!!!

This was the Safari phase of our 3 week honeymoon and the highlight of our trip. Located 20 mins away from the Selous NP Sable Mountain Lodge consists of a number of bandas (some stone, some canvas) scattered over a hillside. Interspersed amongst these are open plan dining/relaxing areas and a covered pool filled by springwater. The environmental impact is also lessened by the use of it's own spring and power from solar panels. The scattered nature of the bandas combined with the stunning views all adds to the illusion of remoteness and the experience. The lodge is wonderful but what takes this place to another level is the staff. They were friendly, knowledgeable and seemed to have a genuine interest and pride in their work.
