My husband and I held our wedding reception at the Inn at Ragged Gardens in May 2012 and we cannot say enough positive things about the inn, the staff, the restaurant (Best Cellar), and the service. Our families rented the entire inn and spent two nights there, giving us the opportunity to see most of the rooms firsthand. They are all beautiful. My husband and I stayed in the Tree House Suite, which is AMAZING: Comfortable bed, fabulous bathroom with a steam shower and a giant jacuzzi tub, sky lights, double-sided fireplace, private balcony ... it was incredible. We did not want to check out. We heard many of our family members express the same sentiment, saying their rooms were lovely, thoughtfully appointed, and extremely comfortable.

The photos on the inn web site are true to life. Everything is just as beautiful in person as in the professional photos. In addition to the guest rooms, the Inn also has beautiful grounds and common spaces. It is a perfect spot for a romantic getaway or a relaxing retreat with friends and family.

The inn serves wine and nibbles each day at 5:00 for all guests, which was lovely. They provide a delicious and hearty buffet breakfast. The food and service at the restaurant were both excellent. And the location of the inn is also wonderful, as it is within easy walking distance of all the shops, restaurants, parks and other attractions that make downtown Blowing Rock such a fabulous place to vacation.

The staff at the inn could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Anything we needed, we just asked and they were more than happy to supply it. Everyone we interacted with was genuinely pleasant and eager to help make our experience at the inn a wonderful memory --- and they succeeded! We are already planning to return for our anniversary, and our family members have expressed a desire to return for a family reunion. We highly recommend the Inn at Ragged Gardens!

Room tip: You really can't go wrong with any of the rooms ... but the most romantic ones would probably be the Tree House Suite and both of the Garret rooms, due to the level of privacy they offer.

We rented the three bedroom cottage adjacent to the Inn. For the four adults in our party, this was a comfortable arrangement - bedrooms for all and a living room and kitchen in which to gather and visit. The decor was comfortable, less elegant than the Inn proper, but still very nice. The service and advice, since we were first time visitors, was extremely helpful. The Inn provided a delicious buffet breakfast which was included in the cost - not the ordinary buffet breakfast provided at other hotels, but an array of chafing dishes and tables with cloths and cloth napkins. The cafe overlooked the garden area and was a serene gathering spot in the morning. On Easter morning, since there were only four parties staying at the Inn, we were served a sit down breakfast with a small menu. Everything was delicious as the cafe is an award winning restaurant in the evening. In the late afternoon, guests are invited to gather in the lounge area of the Inn for wine and snacks. This was also tastefully presented and we enjoyed conversations with guests from around the region. I definitely plan to stay at the Inn at the Ragged Gardens again when we return to the area to visit Grandfather Mountain State Park. It will make a restful place to relax after a day in the outdoors.

Room tip: We didn't hear any noise in the cottage, but we were here on a holiday weekend. There is a school across the street, so weekdays could have some noise during arrival times in the morning, but that would not be exceptionally early.

Stopped at the Ragged Gardens on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. Great decor and elegant surroundings. Carole is excellent and helpful. Great rooms and breakfast is spot on. Only complaint is school buses in the early morning but you should be up anyway.

A quick overnight trip for two and the mountains of Blowing Rock were calling. The inn was a great choice for a very relaxing and romantic time. The staff were very friendly and we were made to feel right at home. Excellent location for a walk through town, window shopping and then back to the inn for the afternoon wine break.

Room tip: The Oakleaf Room is just around the corner from the pantry making it very easy to slip over for the fresh cookies or grab a soda from the fridge.
