“Great place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2007

This is a great option. The hotel is very clean and quiet, it's 2 minutes from the Uxmal archaeological site, and has a large pool to cool off after climbing pyramids. The restaurant is good and reasonably priced, and the staff is friendly and extremely helpful.
The beds are harder than most people are used to, but the rooms are clean and fresh, and proximity to the pyramids is key, epsecially if you plan to visit them in the morning and also in the evening, for the Lights and Sounds show.

“Needs a lot of upgrades”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2007

We stayed here one night during a trip to Merída. I know it is in the jungle but having bugs in your room is not acceptable. This hotel lacks everything from not much hot water to no outdoor furniture on the balconies. The hotel looks like it has not been upgraded in 30 years. The bugs die at your door every night and they do not sweep the floors until 9:00 am. They should be sweeping before anyone wakes up. We would never stay here again.

“Good hotel, especially for the price!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 June 2007

The hotel is very visually attractive. The rooms have nice floors and balconies, and most offer a good view of the rolling hills with the Uxmal ruins in the background. There is a great solarium that is always open. From there, you can see miles of beautiful jungle as well as the tops of the ruins.

The ruins are not withing walking distance of the hotel. This hotel is a scenic location, but it is a short drive from the ruins. The other hotels are withing walking distance, but they are much more expensive than the Mission Uxmal.

Breakfast is good, but I would recommend having dinner at the Lodge restauraunt. The food here is no longer served buffet style, but other restaurants afford more menu options.

The rooms were nice, and the service fairly good. The beds are very hard but that is pretty much the way it is in Mexico. The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable ant the showers were hot.

Great hotel in a wonderful location!

“Hotel Needs a Revamping”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 April 2007

We stayed here two weeks ago during a driving tour of the Yucatan. We stayed two nights so that we would have plenty of time to see Uxmal. We had stayed at the Hacienda Uxmal on a previous visit 13 years ago but decided to try the Mision Park Inn because the ratings on TripAdvisor were similar and the Mision Park was considerably cheaper. Well, we wish we had stayed at the Hacienda Uxmal instead.

The Mision Uxmal is heavily used by bus groups - even groups not staying the night, but utilizing the cafeteria/restaurant and the outside pool area. The place was almost always very busy during our entire stay with loud buses running engines in the driveway.

Throughout our stay, there was no hot water in the rooms. They warned us when we checked in but since we had prepaid, there was no point in trying to move. We took very quick showers.

The rooms are worn and the furnishings are tired in this hotel. There are no screens on the porch doors. So, unless you run the air all night, you have to leave the door open to the bugs. The rooms have nice balconies but no furniture on them - not even plastic chairs.

The restaurant/cafeteria had no charm and was very crowded with bus tours. There was no outside dining option even though there were tables out by the pool. Food was served buffet style.

The best thing about the hotel was the big pool but it got very crowded with bus tours that would come in just for the afternoon lunch stop after the tour of the ruins. The pool was also in need of cleaning. Another plus were the cold beers that were available from the bar but we had to get them ourselves since the wait staff never came out to the pool area.

One evening, we went over to the Hacienda Uxmal and walked around. This place was just as beautiful as we remembered it. It's well cared for and the beautiful pool is just as inviting as it was 13 years ago. This is where we would stay if we ever return to Uxmal. I can't imagine why the Trip Advisor reviews are not better.

We also checked out the Villas Arqueologicas and the Lodge at Uxmal. These are located right at the gate of the ruins and are in the hub of things during the day. The Lodge is way too expensive and the Villas are filled with smoking French people. However, the restaurant at the Lodge is wonderful and we ate all our meals there. It's under a huge palapa right across from the entrance to Uxmal. The food was very good and no more expensive than the other restaurants and it was never crowded when we were there.

  • Liked — Some nice views of the area
  • Disliked — No hot water

“Average hotel, average service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2007

I booked through Orbitz during the travel so didn't have the printed coupon. Orbitz took my money but the hotel didn't get the booking detail. Luckily I saved the coupon onto my laptop so the hotel can print it when I was about to check out.

The location is close to Uxmal ruin but rental car /taxi is necessary. Only buffet is available, and my stomach can't cope with the food (this is the only time during my whole 15 day trip in Yocatan Peninsular).
