Stayed at the Streaky Bay Hotel Motel for a night on an 8 day, 5,800km motorbike ride from Perth to Darwin. If you're ever in this corner of Australia - the Eyre Peninsula - Streaky Bay is a must stop place on the itinerary and the Hotel Motel is definitely recommended for the stopover.
I stayed in the motel area. The room was clean, a good size with a queen and a single bed, and well fitted out in with all the necessary amenities in typical Australian country town motel style. The food at the hotel restaurant is good quality - I can definitely recommend the grilled King George Whiting - and the beer cold off the tap. Other motorbike mates who have stayed there have recommended a hotel balcony room next time for the views, so this is on the agenda for the next trip.
The service was friendly and helpful. They accidently double charged me - which was actually my fault as I had already paid online but forgot about it when I booked in and paid again - they rang me the next day on my mobile when I was 600kms down the road to tell me and apologise, and advise that they had refunded one of the charges.
Don't expect a 5 star international hotel in a bustling city. Do expect a relaxing and comfortable stay in a great hotel/motel in a beautiful Australian country seaside town.
All in all, highly recommended.
