Free wifi, great facilities and some great walks. Most places required a week stay or a mid week stay, we booked a 5 night stay starting on a Wednesday. Much better than the alternative of a b&b in Blackpool ! Very environmentally conscious.

The Bowland Forest is a part of Lancashire that my husband and I had never thought of visiting. It is a very pretty area with dells, small villages and The Trough of Bowland. The village of Chipping, which is about a mile and a half from the Mill is full of charm with one of the oldest shops in England. There are plenty of places to visit and a good choice of cafes, inns and restaurants. The area is excellent for walking and some of the properties allow a dog, which is unusual for 5 star property. There are plenty of dog walking routes adjacent to the property.

The property has lovely outdoor facilities, including a BBQ area and the local butcher in Chipping sells excellent meat.

Next time we go I hope it doesn't rain so much so we can enjoy the excellent facilities.

Beware the pictures on the website - we did - and our accommodation was in no way luxurious. Small, incredibly dark/gloomy. Bedroom windows all locked - no key.
Duvet was heavy & hot. Temp. outside approaching 23 deg.C !
No view (except the car park or courtyard),

Couldn't complain at the time - owners away - no one in charge. When we did - response was essentially "you must have booked the wrong accommodation".
Too right we did - spoilt our holiday - we left early. Over-priced at £515/week.
Don' rely on your mobile phone in an emergency - the signal is non-existent.

We arrived at Wolfen Mill to find our studio apartment absolutely spotless with a wealth of information given to us regarding walks, restuarants, pubs and local village shops.
The studio itself was lovely, with quite possibly the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on (not to mention the largest!). A great fully equipped kitchen, living area, sofa and tv with dvd player and the small but great shower room were all we needed. The communal living/reading room area and patio were comfortable and again spotless and the patio looking out directly over the pond was a beautiful spot to drink a morning cup of tea or share a glass of wine in the evening.
Wolfen mill itself is within comfortable driving distance of Preston and Lancaster for those who want a more bustly atmospshere.
Would definitely recommend these cottages to all - we will definitely be returning again and again.
