This hotel is history incarnate, being 249 years old. While it still maintains its historic feel and the rooms are attractive, don't look too closely. The cleanliness of the rooms is marginal. Ripped bedding hangs to the floor, ceiling have water marks, and toilet seats do a slip-n-slide. The TV has one channel -- how quaint. These rooms are in need of some TLC.
And what a shame that the first person you meet at the reception desk greets you in a T-shirt and jeans with several holes and shreds in them. Now, the restaurant staff were nice and neat, so why have your greeter dress like she's going to a rave?
And I didn't quite understand the difference in room pricing. My friend had room #202 and I had #201. I paid $20 more a night for my room and I couldn't figure out why. Rooms and bathrooms were very close in look and feel.
On the plus side, we were pleased with the food at the restaurant. The Brick includes breakfast although a very limited menu and you will pay $3 for bacon. We did have dinner there one night and the meal was very good and reasonable. The service in the restaurant is good too.
So, for the price, which was reasonable, the hotel has it's positive points and a fabulous location, but it's not The Ritz.
