I have always been pleased with the Springhill suites that I have stayed at in the past. So it is no surprise that this particular one doesn't let me down overall. I will throw out my negative point first. I was in room 911, it was two doors down from the elevator. Now.....it's not what you think, hearing people walking on and off the elevator all the time, nope. It was the elevator noise!!! Every time that thing would move even one floor I could hear the cables and pulleys. Not to be a total downer with it. The noise did subside as the night progressed and the guests made there way to their rooms. But if your one to be very sensitive to noises I would suggest a room that is either lower or at the end of the halls.
Location...... I loved it, right across the street from PNC Park, across the river (walking distance) to the cultural district and some really great restaurants (both high end and casual). I love that you get a really nice view of the skyline. Very convenient to the highways for you travelers. Best of all...... It houses an amazing restaurant right on property. SoHo Pittsburgh has amazing food, great happy hour specials and a great place to relax and watch the game or grab a drink after work. Kudos Marriott.
Parking is right on site, currently $19 day with in/out privileges. You can park on the street overnight after 6pm for free.
Overall, the hotel was clean, the staff from the front desk to the shuttle driver were polite and friendly.......and oh yes, I LOVED the beds! One of the most comfortable I've been in.
I would have rated this place higher but that elevator thing was just too much.

Room tip: Lower room and end rooms away from the elevator mechanisms

The suite is nicely equipped and comfortable. My wife has back problems and the bed was very comfortable for her. Housekeeping was a little loud during one of the days we stayed here, banging the door to the room next to us every 30 seconds or so what seemed like an hour. The Shuttle service was the absolute best part of the stay, and we used it several times to visit the National Aviary/Warhol Museum/Nicki's Thai Restaurant. The Springhill's Soho Restaurant is very good and well worth a visit even if you're not staying at the hotel. We typically avoid hotel restaurants because most are over-priced with mediocre service and food, but the Soho was most certainly an exception and we're glad we stopped in our first evening in town. The free breakfast was also very good. Parking is a little too expensive for guests, I think, but the lot is well lit and we were able to park very close to the hotel. Another plus, the Beer Market is just across the street and they have a tremendous selection of craft beers on tap and live music some evenings. Yes, I would be happy to stay here at the Springhill again.

We have always stayed at this property when we visit to attend sporting events and have had very good experiences. This past football weekend was our first disappointing experience and really left a negative impression on us. I cannot stress enough, if you book a room at this hotel, ask for a room that is not near the freeway! The noise of the freeway was enough to keep us up most of the night for an entire weekend. The hotel was booked for the game, so moving rooms was not an option. The deadbolt on the door handle did not work either. We may give this property another chance, but it is no longer our "go to" place in Pittsburgh.

Room tip: Ask for a room that is far away from the freeway.

Hotel is across the street from PNC Park and short walk to Heinz Field, Roberto Clemente (6th Street) Bridge and Pointe Park. Visited in October 2014 for Steelers game. They offer shuttle service to surrounding areas which was a plus. Shuttle drivers were friendly and courteous. Staff was friendly, rooms are clean and neat. Will be returning to this location!

This is my "go to" hotel when I have business in our office on Pittsburgh's North Shore. Staff is always friendly. You do have to pay to park, but the rooms are comfortable. Be sure to have the banana bread pudding from the Soho Restaurant connected to the hotel!
