First the good, because every place has something good about it and so does this boutique hotel: The location is wonderful -- just a few blocks from truly great restaurants, great shopping and within walking distance of the beautiful homes along Meeting Street. The rooms are also quite nice. The breakfast bar on the roof-top patio is wonderful and provides a great place to meet other guests.
Now to the bad: If you are going to advertise that you have free wifi, then you better have wifi. We travel a lot and we use wifi and our i-pads to keep up with the busy lives of our kids and grandkids. Each time we were successful in getting onto the Inn's internet port, the service was painfully slow and we were eventually kicked off. We have had this problem at other places, so I called the desk to asked them to reboot the router only to be told that it was only because I was using an i-pad. Unfortunately for them this was a phony answer and I knew it because we had used the i-pads all over the world. I explained that it was the signal and if they bought a $99 range extender or two, their problems would go away. Second issue: We left the room after our first night only to have the maid question if we would want our room serviced. Logical question, you say; but it was the way it was said that made it obvious that she was not at all interested in cleaning our room if we were staying more than one night. REALLY! At these prices, I want fresh towels and wash clothes. Then, there was no shampoo or conditioner left any night other than the first night. Come on! Do you really have to save 25 cents? Third issue: When checking in, we were told that there was a nice roof patio where we could have a glass of wine and watch the sun set over Charleston. Now what would you think? They had wine -- even if you paid for it - right? No. You had to bring your own bottle, which meant walking several blocks to the Harris Teeter, buying your wine and then bringing it back to the patio to drink. Of course, then there were no glasses. Really romantic. Finally: We were lucky in a way. The parking lot at the Inn was full when we arrived so we were told to park across the street in a bank parking deck. We talked to several who were not as lucky and they told us that birds had eaten berries in the trees around the parking lot and you know what that led to being deposited on their cars. All in all, I just think this Inn needs some on-site management that looks at things from a customer's perspective and demands that the staff do a much better job of making the hotel a good experience for guests. Little things do make a difference and they are lacking here.

We welcome guest comments as we continually look to enhance our guest's stay.at the Andrew Pinckney Inn. We are disappointed to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. Our goal is to provide the finest guest experience and service as possible. We apologize for any issues that you encountered during your stay especially with the WiFi. We understand how much our guest depend on this complimentary amenity these days. But it is well documented that there have been major complaints with WiFi reception by Ipad users over the past two years
Because we want to find ways around any difficulties to enhance our guest's stay we have consulted with our WiFi provider and are in the process of reviewing ways that we may strengthen a signal for such devices.
It is common these days for guest to request that we do not change their linens or even clean their rooms especially those that are "green" sensitive to our environment. We apologize for any misunderstanding during your stay. I can assure you that the housekeeping staff had the best of intentions but we will review the issue with our staff.
We hope that you will give us the opportunity in the near future to "Wow" you when visiting Charleston again. And thank you once again for taking the time to give us your feedback as we strive to not only meet but exceed your expectations.
Best Regards,
Barry Hutto
