Anyone can find fault with any motel, that's a fact. People that complained about this motel that paid $44 in February, IMHO, don't have much to gripe about. Neither do the people that complain about the I90 being on a hilltop right outside the motel -- that's what heavy doors, blinds, and air conditioners are for, to drown out the noise. I paid $100 a night in early August, I feel any place that charges that much is a real rip-off, yet one's got to consider the time of year -- peak tourist season, go figure. I dodged a HUGE bullet, leaving 5 days before the big bike rally, which then costs upwards of $300, and 700,000 bikers converge on the town. Again, go figure -- it's a mecca for bikers all year 'round! If there's a worry about ambient traffic noise, it's not the Interstate, it's the normal Harley owner who gets 'shorties' installed two weeks after he/she buys the bike! Yet I'm here to tell you, I didn't meet one single biker who wasn't decent as decent gets.
After reading other review prior to staying there, I naturally looked at the carpeting once I arrived and immediately thought I saw lots and lots of stains -- until I realized it was the kind of carpeting that has grain, and one scuff of a foot makes it look way darker, hence the 'stain' look.
One day I came back after a long day of sightseeing, only to find my door halfway open. The cleaning people didn't slam the door like it needed -- nothing was missing, no harm, no foul. Honest mistake. Yet some would rant and rage about something like that, and ignore the simple fact that everything was okay.
The (much needed) WiFi was damned good. The room was comfortable and clean, the staff were all very nice and helpful, especially Sheryl.
The morning chow was really well put-on, from waffles to scrambled eggs, to sausage gravy and biscuits.
I'd avoid the 'inner' rooms adjacent to the swimming pool -- unless you love humidity and the smell of chlorine, as well as a pool area that's over 30 years old at least. Get the picture?
BOTTOM LINE: IF I STAYED THERE IN ANY OFF-SEASON TIME AND PAID $44, I'D BE HAPPY AS HELL. THEN AGAIN, IF I HAD MY EVER-S0-COMPLAINING EX WITH ME, SHE'D BE CRABBING UP A STORM -- LIKE I SAID, YOU CAN FIND FAULT VERY EASILY WITH ALMOST EVERY MOTEL, MANY PEOPLE DID WITH THE STURGIS BEST WESTERN, BUT IF YOU TAKE A STEP BACK AND COMPARE IT TO SOME REAL DUMPS, THIS PLACE IS A VERY DECENT PLACE TO STAY.
