“A B&B as lovely as the countryside it is in”

This lovely b&b is just a few minutes down the road from the town of Avoca and Fitzgeralds pub, located in a very tranquil, cozy, country setting. Upon our arrival, Jackie the owner gave us a warm greeting and offered us some tea/coffee and baked goods. Jackie was a very gracious host who offered some dining suggestions when asked, and served a very nice breakfast. The rooms were very clean and nicely appointed. We are planning to return to Ireland in 2011, and if our itinerary has us in this area again, we will be sure to stay here as it was one of our favorites from the trip.

“Ireland's best kept secret for B and B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2010

We selected Ashdene, Avoca from "The Green Booklet" which was picked up in our local library. One is always a little apprehensive when you choose blindly from a booklet.
When we arrived we were delighted at the location but after we moved in, unpacked, talked to the owners, slept the first night and then had our first of 7daily breakfasts.
WOW as far as B and B,s go this place, without any doubt must be the best you will find any where and must be Ireland's best kept secret which every one should experience.
If you are thinking of going to Ireland you could do no better than to give Jackie or Mervyn a call.

This was a welcome place to stay our first night. We arrived in the late afternoon to a welcome of tea/coffee and carrot cake! Our room was very clean and nicely appointed for our night. The breakfast was lovely as was the host, Jackie.

“Wonderfully quaint B&B in BallyK”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2010

When we began planning our trip to Ireland, Avoca was a must, having only recently found BBCs Ballykissangel. We found Ashdene through TripAdvisor, and were not disappointed.

Mervyn and Jackie were very easy to work with to set things up, and when we arrived, were greeted with a lovely little B&B less than a mile from the little village of Avoca. The rooms were clean and charming, and the house truly felt like home. The rooms were extremely reasonably priced, and included our breakfast, which was just excellent; the best of the trip. We only stayed in Ashdene one night, but it was so pleasant, we plan to stay longer the next time around.

A quick word on BallyK (Avoca) itself: If, like us, you fell in love with the TV series and want to visit, you're be pleasantly surprised. Avoca is a tiny village situated on a small stretch of road, and most of the fuss from the TV show has died down. We had pints and great craic at Fitzgerald's Pub, with locals who were eager to engage us in conversation.
You could quickly get very comfortable in Avoca, and never want to leave.

“Best B and B in Ireland !!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2009

Best B and B in Ireland for us was ASHDENE in AVOCA(Ballykissangel).
Not only was it lovely but Jackie Burns treated us really special. She welcomed us with coffee and cakes upon arrival and even brought us coffee
outside on the front porch in the morning before breakfast. Furnishings
were pristine as was landscaping. Jackie also was very engaging in her
eagerness to interact with us. She was a charming and gracious host.
