“It's All About the Location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

You could not ask for a better location when visiting Glendalough: this attractive b&b lies next to the river, a pleasant, short walk from Glendalough Village. The walk ends right at Glendalough monastic site affording beautiful views of the round tower and ruins. Our two children loved hopping across the stepping stones to and from the b&b (see photos), and we were lucky enough to see deer on our evening walk.

We had two en-suite rooms for our stay: both were simply, but comfortably furnished, very spacious and clean. The guest lounge (with wifi and pc for guest use) was a nice place to sit in the evening, and the breakfast lounge (conservatory) was very attractive, too.

Breakfast was plentiful and tasty: toast, a good selection of cereals, plus hot dishes cooked to order.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Recommendation: if you want to eat at Wicklow Heather, which is supposed to be very good, then do make a reservation in advance. We didn't and couldn't get a table. We ate at Glendalough Hotel bar, which was nice pub food and offered friendly service.

“A river gem”

We arrived at Riversdale late in the evening to a warm welcome from our hosts who immediately suggested dinner at the Wicklow Heather - and we were not disappointed. The next morning we awoke to a stunning location looking out over the river and up the valley. It would have to be one of the most picturesque locations of our entire trip. The room was a good size, with well appointed bathroom, and a stunning breakfast conservatory. Apart from amazing hikes in the Wicklows, we used Glendalough as a base to visit Dublin and found it to be extremely convenient - we caught the DART from Bray. It's a great way to experience the city and return to the tranquility of the countryside.

“Peace and Tranquillity at Riversdale B&B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

I stayed for 5 nights at Riversdale B&B, and would highly recommend it. It is set in the Glendalough Valley in County Wicklow - the garden of Ireland - where beauty abounds. My window afforded me a birds' eye view of the mountains, forest and the river, with its stepping stones. So much to see and explore there, with walks and history in all directions.
I cannot speak highly enough of Liam and Zell, who provided wonderful hospitality, and were very happy to assist at all times, while remaining unobtrusive. Breakfast was thoroughly enjoyable - fresh produce and a good choice to be had! At the close of the day, my room was a welcoming haven to return to. As well, Liam organised both reservations and transport with a local restaurant.
Many happy memories of my stay there draw me to return again!!!

“Nice B&B in a great setting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

If you are going to go to Glendalough and hike the lakes and monastic settlement then the Riversdale is very convenient. In the end, after travelling around Ireland for over a week and staying in various B&B's, we would say that this one is middle of the road. The room is well sized as is the bathroom. We did think it a little strange that when we asked for shampoo, conditioner and soap we were told the pump soap at the sink was what we were expected to use for our shower as well...a little odd. The breakfast was ok, but again very average.

Dear Sir,

We thank you for your comments and are happy to know you enjoyed your stay at the Riversdale B&B. As the owners of the B&B we would like to address the following point.

The Pump dispencer is filled with Shower Gel on a daily basis, which is for washing hands, body wash and shampoo.

In our 10 years experience of running a very successful business we have found that the majority of guests prefer to bring there own personel toiletries. However we understand that some guests do require shower gel and shampoo and this is why we provide the 3 in 1 solution.

“Awesome place”

Stayed here on our 3rd night in Ireland. Breathtaking views, gorgeous B&B. This was our first B&B and after the trip it was among the best. Great food and the host arranged our diner reservations with a local restaurant and the restaurant picked us up and brought us back. Nice touch. The B&B is located on the river in the centre of the valley. You can walk to the National Park and do the trail right from the B&B if you can cross the stepping stones on the river. Sooooo picturesque. Not to be missed.Loved it!!!

Room Tip: Just go there, you will not be disappointment. Awesome place.I want to go back now!!!
