“Wonderful!”

My boyfriend and I loved Wheelwrights. Nigel and Sue greeted us with a lovely cup of coffee and soon we were chatting away as they were such a interesting and friendly couple.

The room is fantastic - clean, really quiet and you have your own key so can come and go without disturbing anyone. The bed is huge and so comfy, and there is an INCREDIBLE electric blanket which kept us toasty warm after our long walk (it made is hard to get out of bed however!)

Abbotsbury itself is so pretty and i'd definitely recommend a visit - the buildings are beautiful with lots of interesting architecture and if you choose to go for a walk there are stunning views of the village and sea from the surrounding hills. It also is a thriving little community with a good selection of quality shops/ tea rooms etc but stays 'real' rather than feeling touristy.

Breakfast at Wheelwrights didn't disappoint - great coffee again and lovely cooked breakfast. I was sad to leave - thanks Nigel and Sue!

The excellent reviews below truthfully reflect this accomodation.

Congratulations to Sue & Nigel on combining the luxury and privacy of a small hotel with the warmth and helpfulness of a B&B.

Faultless.

“A B&B cannot get better than this”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2010

Nigel and Sue have only the one unit - easier for them to spoil you.... and they do. They are so sweet and caring ....... and interesting ..... and knowledgable. No need to detail the quality of the accomodation - all up to that same high standard.

“Superb bed, bath and breakfast - a hidden gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2010

It's very easy to miss this superb B&B as it is tucked neatly behind Wheelwrights Tea Room. On arrival we were greeted with offerings of cream tea (all homemade baking) and a detailed guide of Abbotsbury and its offerings. The room is accessed through the rear garden - wonderfully overgrown - and off street parking is provided as well. Originally the wheelwright apprentices room, it has been wonderfully modernised with a king size bed (or twins if you prefer), fluffy doona, sky t.v. and large shower in bathroom. Very private and quiet with no traffic noise penetrating the thatch roof or stone walls. The FEB is served in the tea room at the time you request and includes locally produced bacon, sausage and eggs. Very tasty. The owners are delightful, knowledgeable and very sociable. It is within walking distance of the coastal path and inland paths. We would highly recommend Wheelwrights B&B

“All B&B owners and potential B&B owners should ideally spend one night at Wheelwrights'”

We set up base in the charming (no street lighting here thank goodness) village of Abbotsbury as part of a walk from Weymouth to Burton Bradstock following the Fleet behind Chesil beach along the South West Coastal path. Wheelwrights' is quiet, private (you have your own access via the lovely garden) and has very well laid out and spacious accommodation with a thatched roof. It is very clean and the breakfast is outstanding. Our hosts, Nigel and Sue Melville, were just among the nicest and most interesting people we have met. We intend to go back as soon as we can to enjoy the delights of Dorsetshire. Thank you so much!
