We stayed with Anna and Ken for two nights and they made us welcome from the start. The room we had was nice and clean and the power shower was great in the morning. The breakfast was hard to fault, the coffee was served in a strange container but was permanetly hot! Anna and Ken are a lovely couple and are most welcoming. They made sure we were up for our early morning flight with toast, coffee, sandwiches and scones for our journey.

Situted up an over grown lane way first impresions was the rather untidy exterior. this B&B is run by a well meaning elderly couple who are surly past their prime. Their small dog has complete run of the house including the kitchen, I would have hygiene concerns with this.
Rooms small but comfy , there eco heating system makes noise well into the night. Breakfast was prepared with the help of an outside lady who seemed rather out of her depth in the kitchen, I would rate it average.
For the price I paid I could have stayed in a 4star hotel, certainly won't be back.

We stayed in the Green room for two nights mid July. At first we felt that Anna's house maybe wasn't all we expected and that it was slightly overpriced for a B&B stay. The approach to the house is a little uninspiring and the facade slightly dull. The room is compact and the ensuite even more so and the furniture and fittings a little worn. However we took stock of all that was at our disposal for the duration of our stay and changed our minds. This included free wifi, a beautifully furnished lounge area outside our room complete with comfortable seats, coffee table, small balcony, trouser press, small dining table and writing desk. An even more impressive lounge/nature observatory at the foot of the stairs equipped with cosy sofas, grand piano, tables, the warm glow of lamps, magazines, books and games, binoculars and scopes to view the lake in detail. We could also see the lake from our room and enjoy a flatscreen TV with built-in DVD player and radio. The room had a small bookshelf, reading lamps and tea and coffee making facilities complete with access to a fridge so that real milk could be added instead of the usual artificial variety. There was a great variety of food available for breakfast and most of it was homemade, organic and delicious. As if all of this was not enough Anna and Ken are among the friendliest people we have ever met and Maxie the dog is adorable. They try their best to make the B&B as eco-friendly as possible and took pride in explaining how they achieve this. We added all of this up and it amounted to an extremely comfortable and enjoyable stay away from home. Anna and Ken went out of their way to make us feel welcome and suggested restaurants and attractions in the area that we could visit. This made our stay all the more enjoyable. In summary Anna's House has a very good location, scores high on hospitality and IS worth the extra pound or ten.

We just returned from three weeks touring Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. We stayed at three hotels and 8 bed & breakfast homes.
Anna’s House is located near the small village of Killinchy north of Downpatrick and Killyleagh. The house is located in a very quiet area at the end of a rural lane. It overlooks a small lake and many fields of grazing land for sheep. Our room was compact, but neat and clean. The bathroom was also compact with a stall shower, which we prefer. There was also a sitting area for our room just out side the bedroom door. We did not have time to enjoy the sitting room, but it was there for our enjoyment if needed.
The breakfasts were nicely prepared and served . Our hosts did all they could to make our stay comfortable. They even located a person to help us find the grave of an ancestor at a local cemetery.
The price of the room was quite a bit higher than we paid for similar rooms at other B & Bs where we stayed in the Republic of Ireland, but we were unable to find anything equivalent for less money in this area.
