“No disappointment here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2010

Anna's House was everything I expected and more. My mother and I stayed two nights in September and would happily return tomorrow. Our room, a main-floor twin room, was attractively decorated, clean and comfortable, with a patio door leading to the garden with beautiful views of a small lake and, in the distance, the Mourne Mountains. Yes, the food was delicious (especially liked the hot-from-the-oven sweet scones that Anna bakes fresh each morning), but the people, Anna and Ken, are the most important ingredient in the success of Anna's House. They're lovely people, warm and hospitable, who offer a sincere and genuine welcome to their home. I would wholeheartedly recommend Anna's House to anyone travelling in Ireland.

“Sheer bliss!”

We would recommend Anna's House to all our friends. Ken and Anna are warm and hospitable people, and nothing was too much trouble for them. Their house is stunning and the location beautiful.

We were made to feel completely at home, and our room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a gourmet's delight, with homemade breads and jams, fruit salads and a wide range of cooked dishes. We couldn't have asked for more.

All in all, a great experience and excellent value for money.

“Beautiful location but in need of TLC, and poor value for money”

The service was good. Ken and Anna aim to take care of your every need, but sometimes that can seem a little over-fussy. While the premises were clean, the decor was tired and ready for a repaint. The room was comfortable enough, but not large. The lighting near mirrors in the room and ensuite was poor. Lino in the ensuite was curling at the edges. But the location is lovely, with stunning views across to the river, field and hills beyond. I didn't like the communal dining table at breakfast time. There were some rather dominant people there while I was, who spoke at everyone else very loudly and relentlessly throughout breakfast.

Having chosen Anna's House on the strength of reviews here and from their website, I was disappointed in the place. I think that, at £85 p.n for a double room and £60 p.n for single occupancy, it is poor value.

“Charming B & B, Delightful hosts, Lovely view, Great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2010

We stayed at Anna's House near Belfast, Ireland. We had the best breakfasts because Anna baked scones, delightful breads and wonderful sausages, bacon and eggs herself. Don't stay in Belfast if you want to really get to know the people. Anna gave us great directions to fantastic dinner places, a lovely garden at Mount Stewart Gardens. Anna even did our laundry. She and her husband are gems. They have a wonderful sitting room overlooking a lake, green rolling hills and lots of sheep. The room was twin bedded and had a huge en suite bathroom. We loved it.

“A home from home but better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2010

There's a danger of over-egging the pudding in writing about Anna's House but really I can't fault it. From the warm welcome at the door to the stunning view that hits you on entering the virtually self-contained B&B 'wing' (and I won't spoil the surprise of that) to the charming, very comfortable bedrooms and the perfect home-cooked (organic) Irish breakfast, our weekend was simply a delight. Anna and her husband strike exactly the right balance of quiet, warm hospitality without being intrusive. Nothing was too much trouble and they made my father's 90th a very special occasion for him and all of us. I think my father fell a little in love with both Anna and her gardens! Please go, it's not a hotel, but it's certainly not your average B&B.
