“lovlely hotel, very friendly staff, lovely view of the bay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2010

we stayed for one night in a room with a balcony, the room was nice and clean and quite spacious.
All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful especially the restaurant staff.
We ate in the restaurant in the evening, the food and service was good and the prices reasonable, breakfast was just as nice.
There was some noise from the bar but this was easily ignored.
we would definately stay here again.

“Better than expected - previous reviews misleading.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2010

Stayed for one night at end of June before ferry to Ireland for holiday. We were apprehensive after the last reviews but this wasn't justified. The balcony rooms we booked were excellent - great views of the harbour and bay - extra pillows were provided on request with no fuss. Checked out local pub but menu not great so booked table in hotel. The meal and service were both absolutely perfect - the head waitress a great asset to the hotel!

Even though the World cup was one we had a quiet nights sleep and a great breakfast the next day. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

“Lovely view, poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2010

I stayed at this hotel for two nights in a room with a balcony and sea view. The room is good, clean and had lovely views over the harbour. The bar and restaurant is very nice and the food is good. However, the service we received was awful. On our first morning when I ordered breakfast the waitress tried to start an argument with me over which style of egg I had ordered! I have never eaten in a restaurant where a waiter or waitress has told me that I didn't order what I ordered, argued with me when I told her what I ordered and then grudging said she could change it if I really wanted but I'd definitely ordered something else. I still can't believe I had an argument over an egg. That night we got a drink in the bar. Again the bar men brought us a wrong drink. When we pointed out the mistake the barman tried to start another argument with us.

Our room was also right over the bar which was extremely noisy on both nights, but on the second night there was a live band so it was even worse.

In addition whilst we were there there was a water leak outside our room and the water had to be turned off for repairs. This was dealt with quickly and a bottle of water was left outside the room. I'm also not sure why the kettles are chained down making it impossible to fill up with water, but the flat screen wasn't.

“terrible meal never to return here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 March 2010

we did'nt actually stay at the hotel! We went for a family meal to this hotel expecting a good meal but it turned out to be one of the worst ever. 3 of our party had soup to begin with, 2 were hot but 1 was cold and had to be sent back to the kitchen and you could have made breadcrumbs with the bread roll it was that hard. It's quite clear that they warmed the soup in the microwave otherwise they would have all been hot. MAIN COURSE was even worse, 3 orederd curry and again all 3 were cold and had to be sent back where once again they warmed it up in the microwave. Another had Lamb Henry with what was suppose to be mashed potatoes, to be honest INSTANT MASH would have been nicer it was all starchy and rubbery. The best part of the meal was the drink from the bar from very plesant staff.

We wish to apologie to this gentleman for the poor experience he had on wednesday evening. There were issues with the temperature of 3 of the meals/starters (3 of 14). The problem was rectified immediately and apologies were made all members of the party stated they were fine and satisfied with the outcome.
The owner was present on the occasion and no other problems were mentioned. It is impossible to rectify problems if even when asked people to do not mention they are not satisfied. It appears the mash was overseasoned on this occasion.
We regret there were some problems with meals and once again offer our apologies that this particular customer could not mention them to us at the time.
The review on tripadvisor was a suprise as some of the family members are know to the owner and as they left appeared satisfied with the services.
