The minute we walked into the lobby it smelled like being in a flower shop! The two front desk men greeted and welcomed us and were very friendly. It smelled that way until we left. We stayed on the 2nd floor and it was easier to use the lobby stairs than wait for the elevator. Now the lady that was at the desk when we checked out was a lot less friendly. The suites are nice and roomy, wet bar, coffee-tea maker and mini fridge.. Beds were very comfortable. Vanity is set aside from shower and bathroom. Wife liked that! We were there through the 4th and some college kids were shooting fireworks in the front parking lot, but you could not hear them in our room on the backside. Our floor had one ice machine but was at the other end of the floor. No biggie I have teenagers with energy. I might have rated excellent except housekeeping and security was below average. Early the next morning after we checked in, my wife and I went down for breakfast. My two young teenage boys were still sleeping so I put out the do not disturb sign. When we returned the housekeeper asked if we do NOT want to have our room serviced. I said yes we do but would not be out of the room until around 10am since my son had a baseball games at Bluebell Park. Well you guessed it, when we returned later that evening our room had not been serviced. Since we keep our room clean and reuse towels, I did not call the front desk. I went down and picked up extra drinking cups for the room. The breakfast is good, waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage and biscuits and gravy one day, Then waffles, bacon, eggs, and biscuits without gravy the next. Plenty of juices, fruit, cereal and coffee. It was not very crowded during our stay and was a little dark in the eating area. Well our room did get serviced on the next day but the housekeeper did not leave any coffee cups or other cups. She should have seen the trash cans were full of them but still failed to provide anymore. Hopefully the housekeeper starts doing a better job. Even through our bad experience with housekeeping, the hotel was very clean. The property is in a good location with plenty of places to eat some within walking distance. Very close to A&M campus. It did look like there were families using the pool, but we did not this trip. As for the security issue, It appeared there were some long term oil field workers staying there and would regularly go out the side (exit only) from the stairs to smoke. They would block the door so they could enter again without walking around front. They would forget to unblock it which would allow anyone to enter the room floors without a key. I did mention this to the front desk, but it was still that way when we left. I would not recommend this property to any ladies traveling alone. This could be an awesome property if they beefed up some kind of security and enhance the housekeeping. Probably would stay again, but might stay somewhere else with equal rates due to the security and housekeeping issue.
