“Absolutely perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

After coming off of less-than-wonderful stays in London and Paris at accommodations that were not quite as advertised, we were more than ready for a few days of relaxation at this B&B, but a little wary. We need not have been. La Millasserie is exactly as tranquil and beautiful in reality as it is on its website. Our room was large and beautifully furnished. The surrounding region is like heaven on earth. The hosts, Byrne and Alain, are gracious and welcoming and always willing to go out of their way to help. Trust them on their dining recommendations--all excellent! We wished we could have stayed longer. One word of advice: they don't take credit cards, so be prepared to pay in cash or by check (the rates, however, are more than reasonable).

“One of my best travel experiences, ever.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

I just returned home from a two week vacation in France. I love Paris, but the best part of the trip was the four nights spent at La Millasserie and visiting the surrounding region. Our hosts, Alain and Byrne, were the perfect hosts. Their suggestions for dining (the food at all the restaurants was superb) and sights to visit were excellent. The accommodations were so comfortable and inviting. The rooms were large (gigantic compared to Paris hotel rooms) with large bathrooms with walk in showers. The addition of large, comfortable beds and beautiful antiques made them even more special. My only regret is that we didn't have longer to stay.

Room Tip: All the rooms are excellent.

“Perfect Stay - Awesome Rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

My wife and I stayed at La Millasserie for three nights at the end of August while attending a family wedding nearby. It was a great stay. A few highlights:

The rooms are large and very well furnished. Alain, one of the proprietors, is a former antique dealer and the rooms contain lovely antiques. The bed was a good size and very comfortable. The bathroom was also large and had a modern walk-in shower (no bath) which both my wife and I preferred.

The location is out of town in rolling hills and forests. It is not walking distance from restaurants, etc, but Tremolat, Mauzac, and other towns are 5-10 mins away by car and the out of town location is both quiet and allows you to take in more of the beautiful countryside in the area. The grounds of the B&B are also lovely and include a great pool (albeit a bit cold at the end of August).

Bernt and Alain made us breakfast each morning with coffee, croissants, bread, yogurt, fresh fruit, juice - at a time of our choosing. They are good company, friendly and are very pleasant to talk to. They also recommended and reserved us a table for dinner at an amazing restaurant, Luc Peyrol, in a nearby town.

Overall highly recommend.

“Quiet Elegance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

We had the good fortune to spend four nights in this excellent B&B which is situated approximately fifty miles east of Bordeaux. My wife and I plus our daughter, son-in-law and baby grandson had been invited to a wedding locally and we were delighted that the Millasserie was the B&B we chose from the list of possibles.
There are four rooms, two with an interconnecting door which we found very convienient. The rooms were all situated in a new part of the building which had been built in the same Perigord style as the main house which is one of the oldest in the area.
The rooms were all beautifully decorated and equipped with the most comfortable beds we have ever encountered. The bathooms were large with good showers (no baths). Rooms and en-suites were all spotlessly clean.
All rooms had small self contained terrasses although ours was a little shaded by a nearby oak tree.
Alain and Byrne were perfect hosts, providing excellent continental breakfasts with fresh fruit salad prepared every day.
Because we did not have the best of weather we did not sample the pool but it appeared very clean and well maintained.
The Millasserie is in a very quiet area and the nearest town, Lalinde, ie about ten kilometers distant on the Dordogne river.

Room Tip: All rooms similar. Two interconnecting.

“Peaceful, relaxing and hospitable.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2011

This is a great place for anyone looking for privacy and calm. The very spacious and comfortable rooms each have their own private terrace overlooking the woods.
The huge bed is very comfortable and the room is tastefully decorated and furnished. The bathroom is large and equipped with a great walk in shower.
Alain and Byrne are excellent hosts and can provide guidance about places to visit in the locale, and where to eat. There are some really great restaurants within a few miles.
