“Diamond in the Rough!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2010

LOCATION - A bit off the beaten path (not on the beach) as you'll find yourself winding away up the mountainside but, your final destination is well worth it. If you're looking for a place that offers piece & quite, with a beautiful landscape and view...this is it! HOSTS - the hosts will go out of their way to make sure that your stay is as enjoyable as possible. B & B - if you get this opportunity - TAKE IT! If you can handle the minor inconvenience (about 25 stairs and a little pathway) your trade off is your own little private one bedroom cottage with an unbelievable view from your own terrace and, with a kitchenette. Matter of fact, we found ourselves staying in for several meals to just take advantage of the beauty, tranquility and pool - of course. Stayed (3) days and enjoyed every minute - would recommend this B & B in a minute!

“Felt like home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2010

We stayed there from 28th July till 1 August.
Me and my husband really enjoyed our stay, especially we liked warm and very cozy atmosphere. The landlady is very open-hearted and helpful: gave a lot of tips what to see and where to go
Breakfast is rather poor and same but it was enough for 2-3 hours before lunch. I wish this B&B hotel had fresh juices during breakfast and some machine with snacks.
Pool is rather small but fine for staying near for 2-3 hours in the afternoon.
Internet were very fast and cheap.
Rooms are really small but fine if you only need some place to stay at night. Walls are really thin so we knew when other guests had shower and so on :)
But we would surely recommend this hotel to our friends.

“Hated it!!”

We stayed the longest 5 nights of my life at this place. As stated in the other review, the rooms are hot, dark and smell terrible. The also stated refridgerator is honestly just the tip of the iceberg. I wouldn't reccomend any American to stay unless they are fluent in french. There is no english spoken there, and if it is understood they keep it to themselves. We did not encounter the British maid, although if we had maybe it would have made our stay more enjoyable. The one bright spot is the pool and the view on the property, they are both lovely, however, you can't spend the night outside. I have to mention the towels, not only were they old and stained, they were without hesitation the roughest, scratchiest towels I've ever felt, I honestly didn't know there were towels anywhere like this, you could have easily refinished furniture with them. The breakfast was fair at best, and I sat and watched every morning as the owner scoured thru the breadbaskets of the diners after they finished so she could serve the leftovers to the next diners. Very appetizing. All in all I'd reccomend you sleep in your car, at least you could roll down the window or turn on the airconditioner.

“Looks better in picture”

B&B is a good value - but you get what you pay for. My husband & were persuaded by the New York times review and booked a 6 night stay Aug. 2004. There are pros and cons to the inn.

Not really within walking distance to the beach, at least 3/4 of a mile but all uphill to get back to the inn. The inn is nestled within other vacation homes. The rooms are small and hot, the inn keeper is gracious but has strict house rules (ex: only one refrigerator available for guests and it closes at 9pm!), breakfast is fine, although croissants & jams are the only "french" items. The housekeeper is a lovely British woman who was very helpful!

Would recommend staying closer to the water to get the full experience. Would recommend Villa Tricoli if you don't plan on spending too much time there - great price in comparison to other places in the area and great location if you don't mind driving. We probably wouldn't stay there again though.
